After a really bad day (he loses his job and then learns that his wife is having an affair with a mailman) New York attorney Edmond Barella leaves the big city and returns to his hometown in Ohio. Reunited with his old friend Marconi Bologna, he decides to stick around and try to win the heart of the girl he adored back in high school.
