Yazoo Pass Expedition | Fort McAllister

The Yazoo Pass Expedition took place from February 3rd to April 12th, 1863. Major General Grant and Rear Admiral Porter attempt to bypass the Confederate defenses on the bluffs near Vicksburg in order to get in position to take the city. Meanwhile, the First Battle of Fort McAllister was a series of naval attacks by the Union to test the operation of new monitors before heading to Charleston.
