Yes, This is About Epstein's Survivors, And It's About a Lot More.
from The Beautiful Mess by John Pavlovitz Podcast · host John Pavlovitz
That nightmarish hellscape…That godforsaken island of unthinkable horrors, crafted by men whose disfigured, darkened minds cannot be stepped into by normal human beings. This is about that terrible place. That suffering…The tortured screams and silent anguish of the most tender and vulnerable, physical. and emotional wounds so marrow deep that they will never fully heal. This is about that agony. Those unrepentant monsters…Those morally defective, internally fractured creatures with blackened hearts whose billions and similarly poisoned bedfellows provided them cover as they desecrated invaluable and unprotected beauty. This is about those pieces of filth. Those beautiful souls…A legion of then children, now adults, imprisoned for years in a story they may never have been able to utter, a burden that has been carried alone; women and men whose journeys were irreparably altered by a depravity that did not deserve. This is about those survivors. Those courageous warriors…Women and men willing to have their most painful and dehumanizing moments thrust into the blinding light of the entire world’s gaze, so that justice might arrive and the animals who injured them might be ripped from their hidden places and fully revealed. This is about their staggering bravery.Yes, this fight is about that place, and that agony, and those monsters, and those beautiful souls, and those brave warriors. It is about dragging the perverts and predators from the cloistered places that privilege, wealth, and even the law have kept them. But this is about so much more. This is about millions upon millions of other human beings; about sisters, wives, mothers, and children; about next-door neighbors, classmates, and childhood friends who right now find themselves in a private hell not of their own making or choosing. It’s about those living inside their personal nightmares, children with no protectors, women with no advocates, young people without fierce defenders; radiant, precious lives who may be carrying decades-old secrets or holding fresh sorrows in silence. This is about them knowing that someone cares for them, honors their humanity, recognizes their pricelessness, and declares them worth of fighting for. It’s about the husbands, uncles, managers, boyfriends, and youth group leaders who, at this moment, believe themselves protected and out of the reach of accountability; men who are creating their own islands of horrors in perceived anonymity and imagined safety. This is about letting them know that we will be unrelenting in our pursuit of them, too.And this is about the collective home we are building, one where monstrous human beings find no safe harbor, where the vulnerable are not fed to the wolves, where money and power will not save evil people from their transgressions.Yes, the stories within those files, the reams and reams of the very cavernous depths of what human beings are capable of, the thousands whose dehumanization is documented there. We march, and we post, and we make calls, and we hold the power holders’ feet to the fire, and we refuse to let it go for them. But we also do it for every scared, solitary, heartbroken, beautiful human being throughout this nation and across this world, who deserves to know that someone sees them and is gonna fight like hell for them.To the survivors of Epstein and his collaborators, we’re doing this for you because you are so worth it.And to all survivors everywhere, we’re doing this for you, too, because you are worth that, too.Be encouraged. The Beautiful Mess by John Pavlovitz is a reader-supported publication.
