Yojimbo — GTGC #299
from GoodTrash GenreCast · host GoodTrash Media
Our western walkthrough continues as we go... *checks notes* east today. Huh. That's right, we're bringing our trademark style of analysis to Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo. It's the story of a lone wolf rolling into town to capitalize on chaos between two warring families—so, it's definitely a western. It also serves as the inspiration for the Clint Eastwood/Sergio Leone classic, A Fistful of Dollars, which we covered on the show on episode #218. This week, we take Yojimbo to the analysis table to discuss the genre, transposing the story, define art house cinema, and discuss the cult of branding. But, before any of that takes place, we play a game. This week, we discuss Stories Retold in New Settings. Tune in now and share your thoughts on Yojimbo with us on Twitter (@Good_Trash).
