Yorkville American Legion launches fundraiser for veterans monument

A fundraising effort is underway to restore Yorkville's veterans monument. The Yorkville American Legion Post built the monument in Town Square Park in 1969, and now the organization has launched the "Light the Flame" fundraising campaign to restore, repair and enhance it. The goal of the campaign is to raise $75,000 to cover all costs involved in the restoration - including plans to re-ignite the flame that once burned atop the monument. The American Legion Post also wants to add a walkway featuring engraved bricks that honor veterans.
