You Are Having a Biological Experience: Tom Bilyeu on God, DMT & the Matrix in Your Skull

In this episode, I dive into my reaction to a thought-provoking video clip featuring Andrew Huberman and Steven Bartlett. The conversation focused on the way we shape our experience of reality, especially when it comes to questions of spirituality, religion, and the effects of altered states like psychedelics. One concept discussed was whether experiences like DMT trips or spiritual moments actually provide access to something beyond biology, or if they’re simply the result of neurochemistry—something I feel very strongly about.A key theme that emerged was questioning the literal truth of religious experiences and miracles. I explored my skepticism about whether anything truly occurs outside the laws of biology and physics, emphasizing that our brains craft our perception of the world, and that even the most awe-inspiring or seemingly miraculous events can usually be traced back to processes within us. The discussion also touched on how religion and awe may be evolutionary tools for cooperation and meaning, rather than evidence of a higher power.Several points were raised, including the dangers of confusing emotional reactions for truth, the importance of understanding we’re always having a biological experience, and the very real improvements people find in their lives when they adopt certain mindsets or practices like prayer or faith. Ultimately, this episode is an invitation to critically examine how we interpret our experiences—reminding listeners that while different mental frames can improve our lives, they are rooted in the biology that shapes everything we know and feel.Tailor Brands: Check out Tailor Brands to get started with your business today: https://bit.ly/TailorBrandsSeptQuince: Free shipping and 365-day returns at https://quince.com/impactpodElevenLabs: Book your demo at https://elevenlabs.io/impactpodIncogni: Take your personal data back with Incogni!
