A lot of people are stuck in the idea that they will be end up being just like their parents. However, it’s important to acknowledge that you are unique and different from them, and it is not a foregone conclusion that you will turn out like them or handle situations like them, unless you so choose. Your mother may have raised you a certain way, but you can decide who you will be as an adult. You have full autonomy to make your own choices. You have the power to think and feel and act how you want.
