You Are Still a Whole Woman: When Motherhood and Fertility Become Labels

Motherhood and fertility can carry some of the deepest and most painful labels a woman will ever face. Perhaps you love your children but quietly call yourself a “bad mother” because of choices you regret. Maybe infertility, miscarriage, or an unanswered prayer has made you question your body, your faith, or your womanhood. Perhaps you never had children, lost a child, or have mothered in a way others fail to recognize, and someone has made you feel that you are not a “real” mother. In this gentle and deeply personal episode of Becoming Whole, we will explore how motherhood, fertility, grief, and regret can become identities they were never meant to be. I also share part of my own story of pregnancy, abortion, regret, motherhood, forgiveness, and learning that a painful decision does not have the authority to become my permanent identity. Together, we will consider how to: • Take responsibility without living under shame • Honor infertility and pregnancy loss grief without rushing it • Separate reproductive ability from womanhood and worth • Respond to painful questions with healthy boundaries • Receive God’s forgiveness and compassion • Replace damaging labels with the truth of who you are in Christ Your circumstances may not change immediately, and every question may not be answered. But healing can begin when the experience that wounded you no longer has permission to name you. You are not less. You are not forgotten. You are still worthy of love, purpose, healing, and wholeness.
