You are the Beloved

Send a textHenri Nouwen, a Dutch Catholic priest writes in his book Life of the Beloved that “from the moment we claim the truth of being the beloved, we are faced with the call to become who we are.   Beloved is  our identity and the definition of identity is the fact of being who or what a thing is. Identity is what we believe about ourselves. Considering the world  is filled with voices  that whisper or declare that we are not good enough, not smart enough, and not successful enough.  The idea that Abba says that we are beloved can seem flowery/idealistic... more so than a truth.
