You Are What You Eat! ~FAT~

from The Burns Fitness Podcast · host Stephanie Burns

Fat. The last amigo of the macronutrient trio! Join me as I discuss the main concerns with fat 1. being that it is the most calorie dense macronutrient which we need to be mindful of as we build our menus. especially if trying to drive fat loss and 2. the role of fat and how it directly impacts our blood cholesterol levels. I talk about saturated vs. unsaturated vs. trans fats as well as why we would be wise to take an inventory of where our fat intake is coming from and make an effort to increase our unsaturated fat over saturated fat content. I also talk about the problem with "blanket statements" and looping all foods under one umbrella when there are many different factors to consider, especially regarding fat! Most importantly I remind everyone that moderation is always the key. It is not useful to have fear drive our food decisions but rather knowledge and moderation. Fat is literally an essential component of the human body, it has many important roles, all of which are discussed in this episode. So let's not demonise fat but rather just understand the science so that we can make wiser decisions moving forward for our health!
