You Asked, I Answered - One Year of Leveraged Lifestyle - Special Anniversary Episode

from Leveraged Lifestyle Podcast · host Catherine Turner

In this special anniversary episode of Leveraged Lifestyle, Catherine is turning the role of interviewer over to you the audience! You’ve been sending in your questions over the past few weeks, and Catherine is here to answer as many as she can, including queries about how to keep going when things get tough, how to balance work with young children, the systems that Catherine relies upon, and tactics to help you overcome mental barriers. So welcome along to this very special edition of Leveraged Lifestyle, where all those burning questions you’ve had will finally be answered! KEY TAKEAWAYS Catherine was inspired to start a podcast after seeing what it did for the branding and reach of her mentor and inspiration, Rob Moore. Podcasting is an invaluable way of connecting on a very deep level with your audience.  Podcasting is also a way of providing valuable content on a regular basis, that can be then repurposed into different forms, so as to reach new potential audiences on different platforms. The key to a successful podcast is consistency and timing. Make sure you’re regular and try to set the length of each show to a standard. Catherine’s solo shows run to about thirty minutes, while her interview shows run to about an hour. Also, make sure you get the word out about your show! Before starting a podcast, it’s worth establishing your concept, and working out who your audience is and how best to reach them. Being kind to yourself should be an essential part of your day. We are our own worst critics, and should always try to cultivate a love for ourselves as part of our daily routine. Don’t beat yourself up when things don’t go to plan. Quitting your job to follow your entrepreneurial dreams might not always be the right thing to do. Work out the numbers, and crucially, decide whether or not it’ll help your business if you’re putting more time into it. If you decide that you need to be fully free to focus on your business, then make sure the numbers work and go for it. Work out your busiest times of day, or the periods in which you’re essentially out of action, and schedule around them. If you have an energy dip that occurs regularly, make sure you don’t plan anything too busy or taxing at that time. To keep going when things get hard, Catherine advises checking your perspective. What are your goals? Who are you? Where are you aiming for? What is your value?  Real breakthroughs come when we begin to outsource the tasks that we believe only we are capable of. Leveraging minor tasks is easy as they’re mostly basic and can be fulfilled by most people, but delegating important, more specialist tasks really allows us to feel the power of true leverage. The key to working while bringing up a toddler is to tap into the help that’s around you, whether that’s free or paid for. Creating time for yourself and the business is essential, so don’t be afraid to leverage friends, family, nannies or nursery time in order to make time for yourself. It’s also great for your toddler! BEST MOMENTS ‘Podcasting is such a growing medium and a way to really connect really deeply with your audience’ ‘People will come for the concept but they’ll stay for the content’ ‘We are our own worst critics at times’ ‘You’re not going to get it perfect every day. Do not beat yourself up over that’ ‘It’s about having other people around you that you can use as a soundboard’ ‘Perspective is something I draw on a lot’ ‘I want to create a planet that thrives, not just survives’ ‘Business time is business time. Family time is family time' ‘If you’re worrying about the smaller things, you can never be working on the bigger things' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Leveraged Lifestyle Podcast ABOUT THE HOST Catherine is an iTunes No.1 podcast host of Leveraged Lifestyle, entrepreneur, businesswoman, an Inspirational Speaker, world record holder, Co-Director of Ideal-Collective.com and a mum of 2!
