Christianity teaches us that these things are not ultimately our possessions, but gifts entrusted to us for a time.In this homily, Fr. Theophan reflects on Christ’s parable of the vineyard and what it means to live as a faithful steward of God’s gifts. The Lord does not ask us to account for gifts we were never given. He asks what we have done with what He has entrusted to us.This calling extends from the parish to the “little church” of the home and into every part of our lives. Our time, wealth, abilities, and relationships are meant to bear fruit through repentance, prayer, love, service, and faithfulness to Christ.Eventually, everything we possess will pass away.
