When starting his own business, he focused on mitigating risks by gradually reducing his guaranteed income as his client base grew. He leveraged his existing community relationships to help build his client base. One of the biggest challenges he faced was overcoming his aversion to sales and cold outreach. He learned to not take rejection personally and use a systematic approach to client acquisition.  He discusses a major benefit of working for himself, which  has been the flexibility to be more involved in his family's life.
