For many years, I didn’t have a hobby. Sure, my work and my kids could be considered hobbies, but I lacked time for something truly fun. We’re not just here to survive—we’re meant to thrive. That’s where hobbies come in.

Hey friend! This week, I want to share why I think you need a hobby. I’ll make my case and I’ll dive into some truths about hobbies backed by research and offer a few ideas to help you discover the perfect one for you.

I learned that we need a hobby to round out our lives, give us some joy, and  something to lose ourselves in.

Hobbies are more than just fun; they’re crucial for our well-being. They help us destress, heal from burnout, and boost our mood. And research backs this up! Hobbies can lower your stress, improve your mood, and even decrease your heart rate. What a win, right?

Here’s the good news: hobbies don’t require a big time commitment or a ton of upkeep. You can carve out just five minutes a week to do something you love. So, let’s embrace the joy of hobbies and find that spark that lights us up!

Recommendations:

This week I share two things I love with you. The first is Dashing Diva Nail Strips in Pale Blush. You put these on your nails and use an LED light to harden them. Don’t forget to put sunblock on your fingers and hands. You don’t want to age your hands when you do your nails.

The book I'm loving this week is from Robert Iger, The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company. It is phenomenal. I fell in love with it, the stories, the hard times, and the leadership lessons. If you’re looking for a great memoir, a great book on leadership, this book is where it’s at.
