Izzy did. There were rumblings that Izzy was going to demand that I dressed that I do a real costume this year. It's good to just put on the Chewie hoodie because that's it. It's a solid choice.
It does. It always makes a smile on a couple people's faces for some reason. There's a lot of people that probably need to see me in the Chewbacca just because they find it comforting. This is a time, you know, it's a bit of a spooky time.
Oh, yeah. There's a lot of reasons for people. To see me and my Chewbacca hoodie will be comforting for people and myself. Yes.
We're like, what, less than a week out from the election. People need some comfort. They need something that's not going to make them feel paranoid and anxious. Chewbacca will be there for them.

Oh, I know why. Why did we? Because we were talking about Psycho Candy, our favorite records on the name of one of our cats, our new cats, and one of our kittens. And I said to Adele, I'm like, boy, the second Jesus and Mary Chain record, I found it disappointing when I got it back when I was a kid.
Because I got it right when it came out import, you know. Dark lands, right? The imports would come out maybe a month before they came out in the States. Uh-huh.

The streets wanted to be among the first people to hear it. You bought it like on import. So I got dark lands and I was like, I was like, and then you said, well, why don't we listen to that while we drive down to the stores tomorrow? We just listened to dark lands.
So we started listening to dark lands and... It was fucking terrible. Yeah. It was no psycho candy.
Don't anybody... That's between us. Between Lou and Adele and you all. Don't go telling anybody that we think dark lands is shit.
Especially not Jesus and Mary Chain. Not them. I want to be friends with them. We want to be dear, dear friends with them.
And so when we meet them, we'll say nothing but love, loving comments about all albums. Yeah. They don't hear anything about this. Between us.
They don't hear anything about how I was... Like I was describing, it's not that I was heartbroken by the record. I thought that was the word you used to. No, what I said was, I can't say I was heartbroken exactly because there was so much other good music coming out at the time.
I just pivoted. I hope some dreams were not invested in Jesus and Mary Chain. I still had Sonic Youth, I had Swans, I had a discovering Neil Young, shit like that. I had plenty of things to listen to.
But I was like... Then somehow I thought... Somehow then we were like... You know, let's just do something that's like that.
Kind of stick these kind of goth, kind of noise, kind of shoegaze. Your description is like goth, shoegaze, something, you know, whatever. Did you... So we put on Brian Jones down massacre.
Tepp had peppermint wonderland. I don't know. It's like a compilation greatest hitsting. Yeah.
And boy, oh my God. I was like... I swear to God, there's times when I hear that band and I feel it is so perfect. The music is so perfect to me.
And it feels increasingly, as I get older and when I hear them, it feels like a fucking warm embrace. I'm like, I can't believe how generous this music feels to me right now. I can't believe how perfect it feels. It's like shambolic.
It's jangly. It's got a little... It's got like the 60s stuff. Like the...
It's got the kind of goth-y dark stuff. It's kind of drugged out but really catchy. You know, like it's not... It's just this amorphous, just away.
Almost every song and it's like... And homemade and like... It's like I relate to it so fucking much. It sounded so fresh.
I was like, whoa. This is aged... Is aging. Aging, like me.
Beautifully. I like that. I mean, I was like this... Just like you said, it feels old, yet new, yet fresh, yet innovative, yet easy, yet textured, yet sexy.

And I was like, oh, it sounds so good. And I thought, I just keep thinking of that real live song, that new wave hit or new wave disco hit that I loved too, by the way. Loved You Spin Me Right Round Round. You spin me like a wreck.

I don't know that. But I love that song so much when it came out when it was a hit. I love that song. Yeah.
And then I just like the two songs started melding in my brain. And I'm like, that song's kind of reminding me of a Jesus or not Jesus of not Jesus of Mary Chain, but Brian Jonestown Mascara. Okay. So and then we were kind of joking in the car.
I'd be like, oh my God, how great would it be to just put music through the Brian Jonestown Mascara filter. And then, you know, like, yeah, exactly. Like, see what the song sounds like when it's been given the Brian Jonestown Mascara treatment. Exactly.
It was like the A.I. It was like the A.I. The song sound like now. I want to hear Dettrow Lives.
You spin me round mixed with an enemy. Yeah. Yeah. By Brian Jon, I want to hear exactly the mix of those two songs.
Well, and you knew that they were complimentary, you know, that there was like a, there was an ease to sliding the that filter. I went back and I listened to the original Dettrow Lives song. It's the most frantic, like jagged disco songs. It's very like, it's really fast.
It's very pitched. Like the way that he, the guy who sing at Pete Burns is hilarious, man. His delivery was so intense and so like so over the top, it was exhilarating. They're really slowed down.
And I was like, oh, wow, what would it be like? Because I've always loved the sentiment of that song a lot in the way I love the, I felt even the chorus then back then was kind of psychedelic. He washbin. It's like, it really creates so much motion.
You know, I can almost feel like there's a cloud of smoke. Yeah. Filling above our heads. Yeah, I heard, I heard like, and then I started, I think that night, like we got home and then I played it on guitar a bunch and Izzy was like, you sound scratchy.
You need to work on, she's like, you need to keep working on that one, Daddy. And I'm like, I got really excited and I came down to the kitchen and I played when I was thinking for you. I'm like, the two songs work perfectly together. They do work perfectly together.
I completely agree. I wish that you could just release that bad boy on Spotify and Apple music right now and give it to the world. It's such a gift. Fuck that.

I want it now. I wanted that pedal now, but it's not coming now. So I didn't use it on the recording. So that would have been a great song to test out that pedal on.

You're like I gotta go to I want to get a steel string guitar Cuz my play in turners and my acoustic guitar is like stuck with all the dino shit in the dino storage space in the dino Spot in the big building in East Hampton, Massachusetts Yeah, I don't have my steel string guitar So I was like I need it needs a jangly steel string because that's what's on the original Went to look for steel string guitars and they were they're okay But they're big and they're like 400 bucks for anything that's like somewhat decent I'm like I don't it just impulsively by it.
