The move appears to be more than just an attempt to thwart Phyllis Summers' (Michelle Stafford) devious plans. It seems Patty is looking for a new love interest, given Jack Abbott's (Peter Bergman) continued obsession with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters).  Y&R spoilers showcased an unhinged Phyllis, who assaulted Matt in a room at the GCAC. She took a photograph of the bound Matt, intending to use it as leverage with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to get her criminal charges dropped. However, only Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), not Nick, has the power to make that happen. Spoilers for Young and the Restless divulge that while Phyllis was off scheming, Patty sought out Matt. She managed to convince a maid to let her into Matt's room, where she found him tied up. Dismissing the maid's shock by suggesting they were indulging in bedroom fantasies, Patty untied Matt and gave him a dose of reality.
