And now hello welcome to the low post back at the selection day we are coming off a massive 12 game sleep on Monday night in the NBA buzzer beers Over time games in the debut long awaited of James Harden the newest member of the Los Angeles Clippers four Los Angeles base and Southern California They start all coming together all later their careers in improbable weird Disjointed conglomeration of talent that we've been waiting for for months ever since James Harden decided that their own way was a liar He would never ever play for the Philadelphia 76ers again only so we were both at the game last night at Madison Square Garden How are you what up Zach? I am not 25 floors up above Times Square So I apologize at any point you might hear some Times Square activities clean in through my window Two nights ago as we awaited James Harden's debut I was laying in bed and as I want to do while laying in bed and able to sleep I was thinking about random NBA things and a lightning bolt kind of hit my brain I guess I would describe my reactions to the James Harden trade. I wrote column about it I did a podcast about it as like I get it. I don't love it.

I don't think it like all the clippers on to the nuggets level I don't think they're gonna win the championship I'm also not of the opinion that that should be the bar for every trade like you either make it because you're as good as Denver Or you don't make a good you're not just gonna write like that bar. I said they were better Post-trade and they were pre-trade and that alone. I thought was like, okay, I don't get it. I don't look back at slam it Then I was laying in bed and I thought my brain just thought why why are you and others so much less excited about this And I'm on the more excited end of the continuum I mean like there are a lot of people who just trash this whole entire enterprise Why am I so much less excited still then I was when James Harden last played with two superstars in Brooklyn when I thought the team was like Could be unbeatable if they could just just not get in their own way and of course They got in their own way every which way that possibly could and broke up so fast that you barely forget the Apparently over the team he thinks it that was James Harden's point guard with two scores around them So why why why was that team like a no-brainer like unbelievable team in this one?

I know these questions and yeah, rest this part and then you think wait wait a second Sure enough sure enough three different people within the closed organization yesterday brought that comparison up to me that Brooklyn team This clipper steam what why why the different reactions in my response was okay? I get it here. Here's why in the interim we have experienced two more James Harden postseason Ldowns two years have passed which means everybody is two years older We've had two James Harden trade requests and unhappy pouting his way out of teams and one like soul crushing postseason injury to Go eyeliner last season his knee injury and something like there's go. Why back he's taking the ball from came to rant Don't get oh my god shark the place.

Oh, he's injured and that's the difference in the other difference I was talking about some of the basketball people was you know Durant and Kyrie playing off-harden are like pretty thrilled to just let it fly Catch and shoot numbers and like one of the big basketball questions about this team was Is hard and when he's off the ball? Gonna take catch in two trees. He was over one last night is Kauai Gonna take catch in two three seems to four last night That's actually a lot for him five between those two guys is not enough and that's just Even below all the just sort of general architecture of this team who's gonna have the ball when how is it gonna flow? How did these puzzle pieces fit that was my retort to both myself and the clippers people bring up the Kyrie KD harden nets Last night you could read anything into it that you wanted it was an ugly performance by the clippers They put up 97 points they struggled to find any kind of rhythm offensively They had 22 turnovers several of which were just sort of sloppy like oh We're not used to playing with each other.

I threw the ball the wrong way I threw the ball into the crowd and threw the ball into Robinson's hand for time 18 offensive rebounds for the next and that is to me given the size of this team an orange flag at the very least going forward But where you want to be an optimist there were little moments Little moments of sympathy when they're at your point and say oh that's a road map somewhere interesting Oh, that's a road map somewhere interesting Then you factor in a some plumbies knee injury which we're still waiting for the update on but you know obviously I'm a worst case scenario guy just in my general life. I'm racing for bad news How did you come out of this game and talking to Tyler with the other clippers? I mean how did they come out of the game? Where did they fall on?

It's like you can kind of see what you want to see thing from this game Well, I think one you hit it right the nail in the head I'm a big old-school RV fan as you know Zach So I often lean on music that I like and it just feels with the heart of fatigue and maybe clutter fatigue combined with that That you were feeling it feels like Janet Jackson What if you don't relate lately? I think that's what people see in James Hart They see a disruptive guy that they're probably over complaining his way out of the things But I think the real thing was out of his control because I remember being there with him at the start of that Camp at San Diego and James was happy and then all of a sudden started to tear you in because Kyrie would not get vaccinated And you can see James being like what is going on around me they ask questions about vaccinations every day and all of a sudden that kind of deteriorated So obviously no turn down and I just turned down the commassive 200 million contract extension I mean that was a cool. Yeah, that was prior I think that kind of was leading into that because I was beginning a month and he could still sign by the end and remember At the time John was like yeah, we're gonna sign those guys and also they didn't and there was a Philadelphia thing left A bad taste a lot of people's mouths and you know This is guy who average tennis is bringing last three seasons led to league in this this last year yet people somehow Don't view James Hart in that light the clippers though I think the unique thing about this trade is that Lawrence right is that the trade of the public for so long that it gave them time to I just what this trade would look like and really evaluate how he would fit in more so that any other trade They've ever done so they went back and did watch film of what he did He was like, oh, I'm like we understand like 16 games We you know, we watched it how he fit in with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving Well, and what the clippers all was a guy who was a willing passer who kind of took a step back to those guys and was able to kind of just Adapt with them and then what they saw with Joe Lambead was a guy who led to the game This they in Lawrence ranks were surprised in helping Joe and be getting a VP trophy And I think what they weren't anything else they saw look he's an elite passer like this is a franchise It's been looking for an elite point guard to fill the shoes of course Paul ever since he departed that franchise on the trade of them And so like basically yeah, they have Russell Westbrook and Russell brings all the things that they still need You know which ain't hard to board as far as leadership. He has been a leader ever since this this off season The hustle the energy crashing the boards the you know kind of getting your face attitude to prime it bring up their energy level He still brings all those things but hard it is the elite passer We saw snippet of that last night I know you like that pick a role you saw with him in Zubas where he just spun the ball around at the fender and it curved in the Zubas hands Zucawed it thankfully and fumble it then end up drawing foul We didn't really see that again after that.

We saw a lot of like Like I could only have a pass or deflecting last night. It would like basic rock It's a lot of the drops everywhere everywhere everywhere I mean they look like a team that just kind of came together and we understood that was gonna happen But there were a couple red flags to me one the rebounding issue when they face a small a bigger team They're gonna be in trouble like they if you remember the loss of Utah second game of the year when Tyler went small Lori market and killed them absolutely killed him on the inside and even though I think all four of their stars are above average rebounders for their position if they're dealing with a big like Mr Robinson they're not gonna get three pounds So they got killed there the turnovers was was starting like the 35 points for the next But they were still doing well until Mason Plumlee got hurt and this is a impactful injury for them I mean they need as many bases that can get number one number two Mason Plumlee underrated pass or for them who can handle about one point I think the next took away the point guard option that Mason Plumlee brought the ball up the floor and actually started to play Like I watch this last night. I was like Plumlee man. Oh, yeah Yeah, so then losing him is big and now they immediately need to scramble on the market to find whatever backup things They have number three.

I think they have a major weakness as far as like they need a stretch big Whether or not who that could be in the market I know the pass it goes like guys like Nazaree things like that Not saying that's the answer to them winning a championship But they do need that kind of guy because they just don't have one on the roster But I think the four guys like you know Jane said he actually was winning it last night He said like it was a weird feeling not being on the team and starting the season for him Remember this season over for him without having a training camp So he said I felt like I just stopped there winning it. He said the game felt very fast in the beginning He was a little out of shape. He was winded. He played 31 minutes I believe Tyler wanted to plan.

I think 28 the plan was going in he said I totally know this dude 30 to 34 Now it starts out pool four minutes ago. Who knows what happened? I was taking co-ilera said given the circumstances of what we saw now He was still kind of working his conditioning It was like the hardest thing to do is get your legs underneath yourself when you have a plate He's like besides that I like what I saw and Paul George is very encouraged by what he saw in a Paul George took a step back He finally cooled off after this all-star Terry's been on I think it was like two for ten last night ten points didn't look good He's the one that I worry about with the big four not that you know his talent or anything like that It's his his mentality is that he wants everything to work. So any any he wants that so bad that he's a guy I could just say I'm gonna defer to the guys and I think all George's a guy that should not be deferring the way He's been playing the season and probably I knew should probably pair him a lot with Russell Westbrook I think there is a comfort level between those two those two kind of give each other confidence When they're together and so far from that start for the season you can see it so I still feel awesome at this plan of time I know every time you can see hardy kind of all parties like that They don't need James harden not to steal James John walls, you know quotes from last year They don't need James hard to be Batman You know, they just need him to really kind of set up.

I learned Paul George get them open looks and then offensively I like what I saw last night the second team Tyler once I run with the second unit and that allows James hard to cook and I think he also can maybe make that second unit better That second unit takes a blow right now. It ain't look good. I mean I watched it. I was really most of the career I was there with him in Brooklyn.

It's a year. I've rarely ever seen him stay down on the floor like that and never seen carried off like that Well, let's start there at the center position because if he's out for an extended period time it means something there team You know, they still have a cheaper to play on the trademark hit and if they stabilize and they're good Not great but good and they think well, we're pretty much all the way in and we're good But we're not great like we're kind of specific how we would natural Denver who's just eaten our lunch and spit it in our face for four years now Almost Theating to the bubble and I think part of his name a district was a little low Denver and see kind of avoid You know the sun we haven't really seen yet everyone in the West has kind of up and down right now They see well, why can't we be you know a top 14 in the West like that could be look at the landscape I just think that center position is really interesting to watch because I have that twenty-first round pick and zoo is good You know what I kept thinking about last night in since they made this trade you on this balance units and how the Raptors When they really went for it kind of decided you're pretty good big fella But like championship like when it gets real real hard and when the defense is real real good We just need someone who's a little better in traffic a little better in high-stress situations a little better of a ball Mover and a passer under pressure and it went out and got marxell and I just keep thinking about that trade because zoo I like to lose really good his contract is like beyond really good It's one of the all-time great steel heist trades in like niche NBA trade history Don't like whose style for Zucre hat tip Lakers and just fine like he's got he's a good trainer and die guy I think one of the things last night exposed and one of the things that's gonna be initially not an issue But interesting going forward as this team evolves into more of a traditional pick and roll team is he's just an okay passer It openspace he like the first turnover the game I think was a hardened zoo pick and roll they played hard in bounce pass the zoo Russes in the doctor spot he tries to thread that ball to rust and gets on the way Yeah, couple of the turnovers trying he's just like a beat he just needs to be a little faster You know what you know what you may just end up being a really good like an okay starting center who should really be a backup center on a great team I don't know that that's the case But that's a position where like particularly if masons out They obviously if he took a replacement small ball vibe and we'll see that we didn't see it for like a minute in the debut of hard And we'll see more that I could see them sniffing around they're gonna sniff around for a big man upgrade whether it's a center or a stretch for And that's I kept thinking about that that you know this down to straight last night But look on that's that's the center thing. They need rust a space they need his ferocity, but Russ and a center. It's just gonna get a little cramped sometimes and I think when Terence man comes back that's gonna be an interesting debate about who this are to be Are they just gonna ride with Russ are they are they I have already said like I would try to answer man But this the two face maybe already too far to do with the rest of the starter He's like play well and those next teams go back in comparison that the clippers you were to make like to rant in Kyrie as shooting decision makers in Kyrie as a ball handler They just play with a lot of zip and and kawaii is a very deliberate player like the next did not have a non shooter Like Russ on the perimeter and they did not have a second very deliberate kind of player around hardened like the clippers do and I just last night if you could find glistes right you could find glistes like I think you're most encouraging glimpse Midway through the third quarter kawaii and hardened man pickle hard and screen for kawaii because kawaii was like you back when you I could be the crap out of the ground comes from me switch mid range boy ball jumper over quick grinds There was like a pea Russ do his credit to set more ball screens in every history as a clipper There were PG Russ pickles with a Y and one corner and hardened in the other and boom Russ with slip and you get a lay out of it Early in the fourth quarter part in set a pretty half-hearted pin down screen for pull shorts and it went into a Paul George Russ zoo staggered pickle rust slip the pick in open space Made a play like those are your sort of moments of encouragement. There's another play one talk about later that they ran a couple of times But there was like a it was inconsistent and B there was such a plotting station to station element to it It had no flow and it's boring nerd basketball talk But this this team if they're gonna play and like those kind of players will ones that they're gonna need to lean more into aside from this like everyone That's you can choose off our big roles You mentioned the minutes that I bring like all the questions go to answer two plays with who and how long and I have a pin in the That we'll see how it goes those kind of two man games where they're cooperating both on and off the ball They're just gonna have to run them with a little more urgency like the off But if you look at their off ball screening last night, which are which is like an important element of saying he plays up They're just like just like just kind of me entering in the direction of the guy Just like all that stuff got to be done with more zip and look station to station is the phrase that came to mind It's hard to win station to station at the high levels But then you remind us what's the first game the first game the first game is the first game together those glimpses are both hopeful and the way They sprung up within the game was sort of slow and over scripted like you need to get each of points of team Where okay? We run that stuff out of a time out going through our pace this time we call four I go here you go here I screen here it has to become part of your identity in a more organic sort of absorbed into your soul kind of way and by Disjointed in my pre debut analysis of the trade I what I was trying to conjure was like it's a long journey from from where they're starting to that kind of organic flow That they're gonna need to have and I just it's a really hard journey to make it once He's together given that these guys are always hurt other than hard and given that like a hard and zoo Hypical role with a lot in one corner and PG and the other is like a completely making of one portion of your team It's just gonna take a long time and that was my long time a lot of questions that you just may never be able to answer satisfactorily Well, the thing is that they made the straight name They said it's five games into the season versus you know say with only 20 games ago Like they made their trade last year when they got plenty of their Gordon those guys all those trades that they made station station is so perfect Because that's exactly what they did I think you can live with station to station They're never gonna come to go and say what is they can live with station to take advantage of their mismatches That they're gonna have and I think that's maybe what Tyler's envision I think we have to feel a little bit of title No, I'm excited for him.

I feel a little bit from because I'm excited for him I think he sees the possibilities I asked him last night pregame I said how many are you have you scripted how you're gonna use your second team and stagger your stars out and he said I've done it a thousand times because he's had so much time to basically absorb how he thought this trade would look like and what he want to do And I think we saw some interesting line up last night that he really was like I won't get any have any point cards out there was no one was no hard. It was like George Leonard Norm PJ Tucker and Plundley or zoo He's definitely experimenting out there Be I think he's gonna have to do more pick and roll with hard and I think he's looking forward to that It's because of how we lead hard and is on that pick and roll and whether that's a pit roll with co-wire Paul or a big I think he's a thing he's been experimenting with I think he's been I think it was too much big which is fine, but that's gonna render PG and collide in the corners Which is also fine if they're going to shoot and Paul will shoot and I let people go back and watch there's one This is actually about halfway through the third quarter when they run a hard and zoo pick and roll high up in the middle of the floor PG is on the left wing rest is in the left corner. It's a decent quarter three point. You're by way Anything about rest and collides in the right corner James draws to zero.

It's our James kicks the collide Clies open catch it all open pass hits him right here That's another thing that's all about the straight James hit you here in the hands every single guy the end time Oh my god, and you wish Randall was about 10 feet away from quine. I'm gonna. No, I'm gonna pump take a nap I'm not not doing like it was there for him. He drives he draws a defense.

He kicks a harden at the top of the key hardy catches The ball shooting pack right there. He's got 15 to 20 feet old his face He doesn't take a three he pumps Quentin grime's clothes out. He takes one sideways dribble and takes a leaning three That misses like if you're gonna run a lot of harden zoo pick and rolls one of you too has got to shoot a catch You three and not just meeting off the dribble free It's a fun little window into like a little a little issue. They're gonna have to solve But I'm sorry about the The instance that is the C if James harden and go out under when they pick and roll and co-ize the roller if it if it can get Coise his mid-range spots So tightly started this whole training camp emphasizing cutting and passing and back door cuts and things like that He didn't want to be stagnant He didn't want to have too much for isolation offense And then you bring in James harden and now you have four of the top 12 guys in isolation possessions in the last decade Which ain't harded by far number one number two is rustle West broke but like by 2000 possessions fewer I think it's like that But the other night when they were playing the Lakers I had an agent I know it's weird co-ize started off the season I think really trying to do what I really wanted which was cutting passing But you didn't seem getting to his mid-range spots as much.

We shoot a three-lot But not getting like dribble dribble getting your mid-range spots or catching the ball in the mid-range and working the big range until the Laker game the Laker game co-ize started to get back into the mid-range get in the sweet spots and I was like This is good and you saw the beginning he was on fire in that game But an agent texted me during that game and said co-ize has to take like seven dribbles to get to his spots It's not you don't see many stores have to do that today's game I reply back well. Oh, okay. We could take a lot of dribbles Kyrie, you know obviously the Dallas Mavericks, but I was like but for the coaches a good thing when co-ize gets a spot It might take a long time But now when you add James Harden as he makes like you said feels very station to station and when that ball goes to co-ie He's gonna have to get his mid-range spots in the last night. He did not start off that game He missed a lot of the reason in the second half They're like we get quite like what do I do that's his mid-range spots and I think I was asked about this Okay, you said all four guys have to sacrifice But in the second half you dial up the co-ize number and it looked like the ball was going to him is he the guy that you know They've had to sacrifice towards and Tiles up against our players and so I think that they're gonna have to find a way to get co-ize those mid-range spots a little quicker probably Maybe that role is something they could do that could do that I think why I probably have to probably sacrifice is gonna have to get used to doing more catching shooting We know all George can do it Russell was going to have his conversations in the corner But you said where he's more underrated, but I think there's a lot more tinkering I thought this is a dress I was asking I was saying how many games in your minds?

Do you think you need before you know how you're gonna have to make this work and how it will work? He interrupted me in said 10 I think games is pretty fast Realize that I think what he's doing though is saying I'm gonna take this in the 10 game stretch Whatever I tried in the first 10 games if it's not working we'll try something else I'm not saying the line up though I do think Eric's may be back within those 10 games he's been practicing on the basis He wasn't even started for the regular season then he injured himself and we haven't seen that is he a better fit Then Russell was working this vibe probably so I don't think Tylu though can make that change right now I would not do it. I would not risk losing rust mentally. I think Russ is very happy I do think this James Hart thing is shaking things a little bit And I think Russ is gonna try his best, but I think you want you don't want to lose anybody mentally this early this season And I think I'm gonna have to try us and that's not enough as long as they can well Look, I mean it just depends on what kind of work he's been done behind the scenes because the upside as you said of this straight Being rumored for four months is that the coaches have had a lot of time to talk to the players about this is what life Looks like if this dude gets here and one of those conversations should have been with Russell was working like hey Man, there might be a world where we need to come off the bench again if that conversation has happened like at least You know, there's some groundwork laid for it, but you nailed like like Tylu sang after the game.

Oh, I shouldn't be the one who has to sacrifice so much It's a nice way to make these a better thing So it's just it's just it's a fundamentally difficult basketball problem to get James Hart in Give James Hart in the ball a lot and also not have co-iseliner dramatically changed away He plays like it's very hard to do both of those things because James is going to have the ball It's gonna run a ton of people some of it will be with co-is more of it should probably be with co-is on the first game That's fine. It's one game. That's just that's what I mean by the there just these intractable things that there are only gonna be half solutions for in part The half solution is like you just got to execute like one of the turn I watch all their 20 turnovers again This morning one of them was a blowing up handoff between zoo and rust where the defense I think even chances Who's outstanding last night and hit the closest thing to a dagger when guess what James Hart and fail to box him out He be found in three in the middle three in the other corner Demon chance of both of the handoff. Why does it handle that the handoff happens because the play is a set play where they give the ball Is it the other rust who has jail and runs and on them?

And that's the point sets of back screen for a violiner the whole point of that play is to put the Nixon position where jail And runs and he starts to switch on a co-isselliner which is a disaster or a violiner cuts to the river somebody cuts open somewhere The screen is a total non screen. It's completely the next or not compromise all rust jobs into a handoff that gets blown up by whoever's Darning like that maybe runs and I guess that's the kind of stuff that just needs to be executed But like this it's just a very tricky like I find it fascinating because the very tricky puzzle to solve and rust is a very tricky player With which to have around off the ball hovering here in there trying to try to solve it and it's it's gonna be really interesting and Decides in a rebounding. What was a glaring thing, but man. Oh, wait just as an aside thinking about the nets What we for the Brooklyn that's just what a perfect encapsulation of the next in the clippers of these like parallel week sisters inner city franchise Then that's how to be looking at this week schedule.

We got Milwaukee with Dame and you honest coming in on Monday Markley Center's gonna be rockin. It's never been rockin ever except for a living but and then on Wednesday We get geez hard in the clippers on either second game. What a week for us No, it's like oh my god. She's our name is at New York at medicine court on the day the boxer here And then when he comes here to our place and when the Amazon medicine court garden then that's just can't get to break the other thing I haven't listened to podcast P the latest podcast people George podcast lawmer He covers the clip is really has this excerpt He tweets it Paul George on the podcast P show watching hard and incorrect is on Friday I haven't seen that many lives since I've been here lobby lobby lobby lobby.

Oh We saw what last night did not work out well do you remember that one? No, but I'm just saying if you are of the belief That the clippers are cosmically cursed and I am not but some are my friend and former boss both images Just all in on like something's just wrong with the franchise. I read that excerpt lobby lobby lobby lobby and like a chill went down My spine because I immediately thought back to play Griffin and the I rejoored in on the bus Lob city baby when Chris Paul's coming and all that was quite successful Europe clippers back all by the sad ass standards of clippers. That's about pre 2010 It ultimately will be defined as like they still to make the conference on this team has already made the conference Excuse me 20 I read that.

I read that. Oh, no lob no lob predictions. It's just dredging up ghosts of the past But look disappointing debut clunky debut the clunks were to be expected It's just gonna be a very interesting puzzle to solve. Well, I asked James after the game I said He tried a lot to zoo and it flew over the zoo's head and I thought Maybe this was a lot that he's going for a clique propeller Because zoo just wasn't at what they can up to catch that it wasn't a bad ass It just was a just flew over said there was no attempt for it.

I asked James after the game I said now you've been on the court with them in a real game. What do you see as the possibilities? Can you see the possibilities? He said yes unlimited possibilities of what they can do together I could probably picture some limits on that's all that like I could put some limits in the space time continuum You know you're putting like basically those speed traps that got on the west side highway on the clippers right now When you Like I was in my uber the other day going to South Street, see four to do TV at the mic My uber 30 miles an hour and people are passing I'm so used to like when I live in New York I'm fine on the West side.

I'm like, I think like 30 and I see all these like little cameras of I'm like Scary I was like, oh, yeah, you know, you can't see it on there. You can't go 45 and 35 don't take it you But I think it's gotta be just like you said stay if it's on any station station. I think you will see a lot of that They gotta take advantage of the mess of they find on that. You gotta be the right stations They will have a mess match somewhere on the floor with those four guys They just got a you know, they got a basically execute they got to identify that this match and attack it as fast as they can And it did not look good.

I mean, they look great last night. Well, it's an interesting thing You know you mentioned a staggering and this all be worked out my initial opinion was like they should just dagger hard And in kawaii as much as possible because they just both need them also much in last night and play 20 minutes together Hardin and PG play 22 minutes together so pretty close But all those 20 minutes that hard in and co-ied together 18 were part of the starting five so they were pretty dramatically Um, that's 35 minus 13. I think in 18. How many minutes of rest and PG play to give?

I take I respect your campaign They are plus 24 with Steph Curry on bench, which for them is a whole brand new world Oh, yeah And that's despite the fact that Steph Curry is just 31 points on 53% shooting 48% on threes on threes He's shooting 40% those are the three points shots the ones that are long he's made half of them 64% on two is 91% at the line I just have the letters LOL written on my paper next to shooting numbers It's just absolutely absurd and yet I don't know you and I was I had the warriors in my my four inner circle contenders Where Milwaukee Boston Phoenix Denver and then I had the Lakers and the Warriors in like the second outer saint And look contenders so high on them come into the season I It's a little early.

I something just doesn't feel quite right and it's probably a bunch of little something including I think so they can see Andrew Williams has been a business so far this season They're absolutely I mean a couple years off and Raymond's playing his way to shape after this all the time this is my ankle Understandable. Wiggins has got to get it going But he's been did it minus 42 with him on the floor. He's shooting in the low 40s He's not rebounding. It's a lot of points of gaming is a rebounding rate of 7% Yeah, and like when they were tied a little loss.

We can I have a friend who lives down the street for me in six five I think he might be able to have a 7% rebounding rate in the NBA set up for something like that's like a But he's bogus has 7% of me better. Yeah, Wiggins has got to get it going. You know, Dremont has Like it's understandable that he's taken a while to get into peak form But this starting line that was by far the best line of the week last year has him in good And it's real simple. They've got a guy who's performing terribly at small four, but man Chris Paul has been phenomenal 62 to six assisted turnover ratio.

It's it's it's ridiculous Man as twice as many steals as he does turnovers and you know It took a little bit for him to basically say all right All right, all right, I'm coming off the bench But this is like a perfect situation the biggest problem for years as you mentioned has been the non-staff minutes have been really really problematic No longer the case there winning those minutes Chris Paul is running the show on the second unit just as well as you would think he would and they're able to keep his Minutes into the 20s, which not kind of would will help him stay healthy like the Chris Paul trade so far has been a home run and if Andrew Wiggins Home run trade. I was a proponent of Chris has to come off the bench from the moment They got him to make any sense. I mean not any sense like he's good enough to make it work No matter what and actually when he's played with stuff in the starters He kind of adapts to their style a little bit while infusing some of his maniacal precision and like their turnover rate They are 13th and turnover rate Which for them is like you can throw a for being like average or better in turnover They usually throw the ball everywhere and with Chris on the floor they would have the best turnover rate in the entire week Basically so he's doing what you would expect to do you mentioned? We can see as we could play has been very uneven just 16 a game You know they had this like they're six and two, but they had the clay Thompson game winner in Sacramento without the air and Fox They had the controversial finish against Oklahoma City without SGA.

It's just kind of not like They have it been like emphatically good But I trust I trust obviously the infrastructure the scene But we can see really interesting because he was their second best player during the last couple rounds of the play also They won the title and You would think that would buy him a certain level of institutional trust within the team But Steve Kerr is like yanking him left and right for crunch I'm like he is not getting the benefit of you're one of the guys who gets to play through your more Blas a performances and we're gonna keep on saying oh, I'm gonna play paint He's gonna play like you're just on the bench and crunch that interesting watch what and I would think it's because those guys are Energy guys who are going like their defense of rating with Wiggins on the floor is 120.3 and like you go back to that championship run he was really good defense of right He I think Lucas was running out of gas, but he did look at problems in the West Final You know, he committed to that in the floor and like he's not seen that right now Again, it's early and if he gets right The goodness is coming is making strides and it's just I heard dream of rain talking about this over the summer Maybe even during the game. I never was talking about like hey same John doctors Paul He does tend to help young guys growing it out and I think you're saying Some that right now as well Yeah, I mean it's been interesting to see if her go with this benchmark of Chris Paul great paint in the second Was as moody coming in sorry. Young. Young would be the most famous example of this I don't know how you can always say 100% on those But I would say you know if he's turning around is pretty chance that things flash into it I need someone someone who's just very internet savvy and concuah I just need someone to find me evidence that he's been wrong once because every time he turns around he looks at the baseline He looks at his in the corner and looks at his bench and goes, you know, like how? Just like just my chance one of these with me. He's absolutely Just ridiculous to watch.

Yeah, I mean it's totally talk about talk about it I like leave me mentally clean. I just as an aside I saw that game I was very curious to see that game I think it was only their second one or maybe they're first with all four of their core star players if you count You're now in one of their core stars. Oh, grandfather me and all-star game And it was the first time I've watched them play this year that a I enjoyed watching the play and b They kind of played like a team that I think they're gonna have to be to get further in the play Or even to win like 15 I think they should be able to as well as on a Mitchell's playing and he's been unbelievable He's shot making unbelievable. There's just been like a lot of down in Mitchell A lot of dribbling a lot of jack enough step back reason it's fine It's been working in garlands miss a lot of games and journalists a lot of games and they needed to care So there's a couple games at least one they've needed him to do it But I was happy to see that when they had the whole band back together He was getting off the ball earlier moving it everyone was moving around the ball It's pinging around like okay, bottled that and they like the Warriors are good and the fans are kind of up by 10 to 12 that entire game Like the kind control that entire game bottle that and the cast can be be interesting this year Yeah, I I do question long term whether nobody's going to be able to be full time five That's not decision.

It's gonna be made over the next couple months. They got a little look at him But like he said a lot of entries when he was playing the fire, but unless he develops into at least a decent shoe I think there's that's gonna be a difficult fit as far as giving them a chance to make a deep play off run I think the whole thing is really interesting the whole construction of the team I mean obviously We've done initial stuff Josh art even joke about how the New York Not a neutral stuff and I'm going away. I don't know that we'll see But I do think like those are two undersized guards who are not quite duplicative I think they're actually different in offensively in terms of their minds in their games that it can work But size wise is what it is and I think there are times where Garland feels a little bit minimized there by Donovan's just giant supernova Presence and you know Only at the five everyone kind of wants to speak that into existence and I get that and maybe that is where he isn't future But you're already seeing an epic like jernex junior at the five is like a heavy minutes thing Is it working yet and moldly is like if you're gonna play the vibe I think you need more size at the two three four than the calves currently have like by a lot But this is a discussion to me that's that's years away from from being a real the viable thing But yeah, I get it two non shooters up front. It's difficult.

Yeah, the one big difference between moldly and Jernex and juniors that moldly repounds. No, that doesn't balance off into feltryable Right that's what makes the five just a no-go for Jernex and juniors for whatever reason at his size with his athleticism He's just not a rebounder give me three minutes before we go on your hometown Dallas Mavericks who are Six and one and you know fourth and offense 19th and defense six and that rating and that for the 19th is kind of about like if you If you were fourth and 13 you'd be real real happy Carries miss some gains. They needed that connector in the locker room on the floor Grant Williams is given the map I think he should 50 something percent on threes getting wide open looks sort of see primarily of look at look again in shape That certainly helped their climate seconds been a couple games including last night in Orlando was gotten down trouble That was a big concern with him Up to coming is exciting as a high-star.

They're the lows are coming that's life. She's a teenager to be a one-and-done Rookie did a lot of good man. He's a three games games He's been one of the major factors in the way and he is someone two 40 great hands can jump out of gym To potential him and look at his pick and roll tan and his parade and buildings makes him plays You know, it's existing as the ball. It's making plays out of the short-robes you don't expect to see from a lot threat Rookie and seems to be about all the right stuff Orlando was the only plus I've entertained that they've been it's all the way on a back-and-back Yeah, we'll see how this game looks when he schedule gets tough But I would say this I think this is a team that for a lot of reasons including the way last season ended needed to get off to a good start and Make sure it's held down at six a one.

You know, you can we can kind of talk about the schedule And they played an easy schedule But like this is a team that lost the bad teams regularly last year and they're beating bad teams this year in the West Every way matters like you're six in one you give yourself even it through seven games like a little cushion to take a bad luck Was a meter loss of four game angles brain to the great Williams. Whatever like you got a little cushion built up I just thought you know I saw there's I didn't see last night's game yet, but I saw Charlotte to be really from behind to be the Charlotte Orton's at home the other day and like not you're not psyched that you had a really dig out But when it's only it's learned it's but I found it interesting that down the stretch of that game The hornets had brain and Miller guarding Kyrie and the Melo ball guarding two hardwood junior who has accepted a bench role That I don't think he's like about but he's accepted and he's done pretty well. Yeah, he's fine with it Yeah, fine with it.

Yeah, and so they have a melon two hardwood junior and so the maps Luca Basically, I'm just gonna call it a hardwood junior up to set it for me every single position on the floor Because I want to go out of the ball Well, well, well, it's made some some really good defense against a defensive play the other day But you know because Luca is talking about you for the note and you you watch You know, what's Kyrie doing and Kyrie's in the right corner And you see him like the degree of readiness that he had like when the ball was gonna come to him He was ready to make a play. He was engaged He was talking to people directing people to be and it's just interesting to me that it was an interesting little window into There has never been for one second a question of who's gonna have the ball all the time like Kyrie is fit around a Luca Not just universe it's his team's universities on the solar system is him in Kyrie's kind of pickets And like everybody wants this magical synergy between the two of them And I do think they will get to a point where they run more to me and together when the miss match hunting dictates That it should be Kyrie come to set screens for Luca no be games like that that wasn't one of those games But I just think Luca is so good that and Kyrie is so dangerous even in that secondary role and then taking over with Luca's event I just this is a they're starting Derek Jones junior. They're lively and great. Well, it's a top five off It's just a walking pop-off.

Yeah, and I personally think Josh being should be starting me to I mean But whatever he's been good for the tune and you know with Josh being with life a great one So 24 Lucas 24 Jane Hardy's contributing off the job. They got this young core that you know has a chance to grow around Luca if they went enough for everything's good and there's no reason for him to look elsewhere You know that thing just real quick last year post-kite retrae Lucas bang up Kind of whatever final level those you guys played in a big part with a stone can clutch situations the magics are plus 30 in Clutchiness this year obviously we're talking about small size they have more than double up and yet a team plus minus in clutch So far this year last night Orlando when they also come back and 15 down that perfect kind of perfect sequence one possession They try to throw a little bit of Luke eight with a graph past across the floor. Kairi cash you should re-switch next position Kairi gets it boom they're often running Luca running the floor I mean that is the other thing. Luca isn't shape and 13 games of your talk about playing faster than that extra doing it And he's playing defense soon.

I mean not every position not every game But like Lucas engaged on defense when he needs to be and when you back to the rest But you made the actual important point which is look the matter starting with the championship decision They're probably not going to make the conference by like I said second round is there ceiling maybe it's hard It's like a license or murky whatever if they come out of the season and Luca looks around and he says That guy's pretty good. Okay. Oh max for got some minutes late in the season where we haven't seen him at all Like he looks pretty good This guy's pretty good. Okay.

Jane Hardy getting back in rotation. I think he's a big deal after so so some of the game Training camp that had people there a little bit where he's gonna make it's gonna make it in a minute If he can look around and be like something's here that seems sustainable to me That's the win it's just really like that's the win like like every actual wins are good and the playoffs here It's gonna be great. It's just if you if Luke goes around like I'm good Like this looks like it's a single thing. That's the big deal Yeah, he feels like hey the front office has made some moves to give me a chance to compete for championship You're in there and your feet.
