Debunking Vestigial Organs: does God exist
from Faith and Science Hosted by 3ABN Australia Radio
Have you ever been told that your tailbone or appendix are useless evolutionary leftovers? Grounded in a solid biblical worldview, this episode unpacks the truth behind human anatomy. Join us as we explore powerful evidence for God by debunking the myth of useless body parts. Dr. John Ashton addresses the conflict between the evolutionary claim that vestigial organs are functionless and modern medical discoveries. The setup examines how assuming organs are "leftovers" actually hinders scientific and medical advancement, historically leading to unnecessary surgeries. Ultimately, the resolution demonstrates that physiological changes and lost functions actually point to biological devolution and a perfectly designed original creation. In this episode, you will hear: The human appendix has a critical function in regulating gut bacteria, and the coccyx serves as an essential muscle anchor. Labeling organs as "useless" has historically slowed medical progress and led to the premature removal of tonsils and appendices. Finding purpose in biology aligns with scientific discovery much better than assuming random, unguided mutations. Genetic data indicates a loss of information over time, supporting devolution rather than evolutionary advancement.
