Your Body, Is It Your Choice?

from Almost 107 · host Naomi Hopson, Nicholas Lowe, Lana Stryhun

Body image is a perception of our body through our own eyes. It can be influenced by different factors, the most powerful of which is the social environment. Unfortunately, it is one of the most important estimations of someone’s value as a person in our age. According to Stats Canada it is one of the main reasons of suicide among children aged 16-18. People depend more and more on their mirror reflection and it pushes them to the limits, when they don’t even realize it. It is very easy to get in this trap and lose your health to the standards of modern beauty. According to Practical Psychologist Naomi Hopson, who specializes in body image, eating disorders, and suicidal behaviors patients start treatment only when the illness has progressed, ignoring the side effects at first. The other speaker is a regular gym goer, “gym rat” as he calls himself Nicholas Lowe. He explains that most gym journeys start because people fear the judgment of people around for how they look.
