Hi, this is Pastor Diego. Welcome to the daily five. Thank you for joining us today. This podcast is designed to give you a short daily Five-minute word of encouragement to inspire you to think and act on God's word Hey everyone, welcome to today's podcast today I want to talk to you about purpose actually living a life of purpose and today's word of encouragement is adapted from Rick Warren's devotional of purpose driven life that I was flipping through the other day The question is what exactly was I created for I want to start in Colossians chapter 1 verse 16 It says for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth He made the things we can see and the things we can't see such as thrones kingdoms rulers and authorities in the unseen world This is the key phrase right here.
Everything was created through him and for him. This is Colossians 1 verse 16 Who is him that everything was created through and for it's Jesus. It's referring to Jesus So according to this scripture that we just read everything begins with God, okay? Absolutely everything above in heaven and below on earth Everything that's visible and invisible finds its purpose and God So what does that mean?
That means that it's not about us That means that the purpose of our life goes beyond our own personal fulfillment that it goes beyond finding peace And that the purpose of meaning of life goes beyond even our happiness your purpose is greater than your family then your career Then your studies then fulfilling your dreams if you really want to know why you're alive right now Why you're breathing you have to begin with God because you were created by him and for him You were born by his purpose and for his purpose for as long as we can remember people I've been searching for the purpose of their life and most people usually don't find it because they begin at the wrong place They start with themselves because usually we ask questions centered around ourselves like what do I want to be? What should I do with my life? What goals do I have? What dreams do I have for my future?
We're so focused on ourselves that our true life purpose is never revealed and that's because it's not about what's best for us It's about God's plan and purpose for us So contrary to what many people say you're not going to discover life's meaning by trying harder or trying a hundred different things And so one fits or to one works you probably tried that already listen You didn't create yourself So there's no way you can sell yourself what you were created to do Only the creator reveals its purpose for creation. So and try this begin with God You were made by God and for God just like Colossians 1 16 says and until you understand that your life will never make complete sense It's only in God where you discover your origin and your identity and your meaning and your purpose and your significance in this world Every other thing that you try will lead to an unsatisfied life You were made for God and not the other way around and life is about letting God use you for his purposes And not you using God for your own purpose Listen, you can be successful reach all your personal goals And you could have all the money in the world in every material possession You ever dreamed of and you could still miss the purpose that God created you for Jesus even says this He says that you could gain the world and still lose your soul So then the question becomes how do we discover the purpose that we were created for? You have two options your first option is the one that most people do and that is to guess It's to do something and if it doesn't work out you try something else and if that doesn't work out You try something until it kind of works out or you're comfortable in life But there's a second and better option and that one's called revelation What that means is that we can turn to God and what God's words has revealed about the purpose of our life in the Bible Listen, God doesn't leave us in the dark He doesn't leave us to wander around and just guess the purpose of our life He clearly reveals his purposes for our lives through the scripture. God is not just the starting point of our life He is the source of our life So to discover your purpose and life you have to turn to God's word build your life on eternal truths Don't build your life on books written about success and personal motivation Don't build your life on other people's success stories and inspirational stories The Bible says that it's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we live for So if you want to live on purpose then try this first discover your identity and your purpose through a relationship with Jesus If you don't have a relationship with Jesus begin one now a relationship with Jesus is not a prayer that you said years ago It's having communion with him daily if you haven't done that start number two God was thinking of you way before you ever thought about him his purpose for your life came way before you were born He planned it before you even existed without your feedback without your input you may choose your career You could choose your spouse you can choose your hobbies and a lot of the areas of your life But God chose your purpose So it's important for you to find it and the last thing is the purpose of your life fits into a much larger picture a purpose That God has designed for the entire world So how can you remind yourself that life is really about living for God and not yourself stay connected to the creator the life Giver in a personal relationship communicate with God in prayer daily and stay connected to the word of God the Bible read it daily look for instruction and inspiration in it and finally stay connected to a community of believers the church God bless you Talk to you again soon Thank you
