Her shoes come off, she crawls on the floor, and she often races her young patients down the hallway to the VT room!In 2000 Dr. Steinhauer entered her last year of Optometry School at the University of Missouri St. Louis, prepared to join a practice that focused solely on eye disease management when she realized her true passion always has, and always would lie in working with children. It was during this time that she began traveling and shadowing other optometrist’s vision therapy practices, in hopes that she would one day add therapy to her practice.Before opening Vision For Life, Dr. Steinhauer owned and operated Jersey Family Vision Care in Jerseyville, IL for 9 years. In 2011 she decided to close that practice and focus solely on providing developmental vision care to the greater Edwardsville area. Vision For Life opened in April 2012.Dr. Steinhauer is a developmental optometrist specializing in vision related learning problems, sports vision, and rehabilitative optometry.
