Episode Description
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”
-Edgar Degas
Art is defined as the expression of human creative skill and imagination, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. The is absolutely the definition of a performance as well. When you perform you have your vision but ultimately it is more about what you convey to the audience, what you make them see and feel. The best performances are those that make the audience feel something or experience something. It could be excitement, happiness, sadness, pain, adventurous, any emotion or feeling really. It's about how you make the connection to them and communicate your vision. How you appear, your facial expressions, your movements, your interactions with them all plays a roll into their experience and how they feel during your time on stage. This can be developed through having that clear vision of the details of the performance and rehearsing the performance including those details. Consider the audience when you are blocking and staging. When and how you want them to react then you work backward on how to elicit that desired reaction.
