Welcome to the Tweed Trends podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette. Hey, girl.

And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends. It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Today, let's talk about your platform. Let's get started.

Before we get into the discussion about your platform, I would just like to say my apologies if the sound quality of today's episode is a little off from what it normally is, but I'm actually on the road. I had a speaking engagement to do, and therefore I am not in the studio. So once again, my apologies. I hope it is not too distracting with any background noises that may appear.

So now, on to your platform. First question, do you know what your platform is? Do you have a platform? Some people may not know the answer to that question.

And others, they know for sure, they've known for years what their platform is, what they stand for. But basically, it's kind of like what your verb is, what's your thing, what do you do well that other people don't? Or what is it that you know that you could teach other people to do, or what do you feel strongly about? What were you passionate about?

That would be the basis for your platform. There are people out there who have a platform, and I wonder sometimes how they got a platform. Like the particular platform that they have, how? Like why?

And then other people, they have it, and you know exactly why, because they give good information, they give good guidance, and they help people. And that's the type of platform that I want to have. I'm not really sure why, but Elon Musk keeps coming to mind whenever I talk about various topics, and this one is no different than the others. When I think about Elon Musk and his platform, now granted, I don't know what is in his philanthropic portfolio.

I don't know what he does for people out there, but I can't help but to think about the fact that he spent 40 some odd billion dollars to purchase Twitter. What could he have done with that money? What could he have done for the good of the country, possibly the world? Could he have wiped out hunger or homelessness with that kind of money?

You know, he's got great ideas for electric cars and spaceships. Why not housing for the homeless? But that's not for me to say what he needs to do with his money, but I just look at him and his platform as being more like a pedestal, where there's only room up there for him. And in situations like that, you know, sure, he has a huge platform, but it's not horizontal, it's vertical.

It's lifting him up higher and higher and higher. Like, hey guys, look at me. Whereas my preference, I would prefer to have a platform that's more horizontal where other people, I can pull other people up onto the platform to then give them assistance, give them help. Whatever my verb is, and I just realized this last night, I was on a networking call, it's funny, I didn't plan on getting on the call, I didn't even think about it, and I was getting ready to go in a kitchen and cook, went to look for a recipe and saw that a friend of mine, Deanna Jean was on Clubhouse, she was in this group, and I'm like, you know what, let me see what they're doing, and I was so glad I went, because what they were doing, she had people up on the stage, and they were providing something to the group, and then they had an ask for the group as well.

So it wasn't just the ask, it was something to give as well. And I think about people who, like I have a cousin who had this awesome recipe, and she wouldn't share the recipe with anyone. She passed away, and as far as I know that recipe died with her, because she was close-handed with that recipe, it was like, I can't see myself giving you the recipe because you might make it better than me, or you might then take the recipe and decide to go to try to make money with it. And so that's just one of those kind of situations that I look at, and it's like, gosh, if you would have been a little bit more open with what you have, then you never know what you could have received in return.

So I was in this networking group, and initially Deanna said, hey, come on stage, and I declined it. And then somebody else on the stage asked me to come on, and I declined that one as well. I was making excuses, and I realized that's what I was doing. So then I got all my ingredients together, and then I raised my hand like, hey, I'm ready now.

Went up there, I didn't have a give and an ask initially, and then I realized, you know what? I'm going to leverage my podcast. So my give was an episode. If any of the people in the group wanted an episode for themselves to tell their story, to tell about their business, or whatever it is, then I'm open to that, because bottom line is, I want my platform, my podcast, to be something that's going to help other people.

And if it helps you to get an extra sale, or maybe to get a podcast episode under your belt, to now be able to go out to somebody else and say, hey, I've been on this other podcast, you know, let me do yours as well, type thing, then I feel like that is a way that I can use my platform to help other people. The purpose of today's episode is basically to get you to think, what is it that you do, that you have, that you know, that you can share with somebody that might be in need, or maybe you see that they have something going on, but maybe it could be a little bit better. And you're okay with sharing that information. Let me give a shout out to my father-in-law real quick.

Saw him this past weekend, and every circle that we went in, every group of people that we spoke to, he was dropping gems in everybody's lap. And I was so proud to call him my father-in-law, because I'm like, you know, these people, they, it was clear by the looks on some of their faces, that they'd never heard this information before. They never knew of the stuff that he was telling them about, that they should look into because of their line of business, or whatever, what have you. And I just loved how he had the information, and he thought it not robbery to share it with somebody else.

And I just really wish there were more people out there that were willing to share their knowledge, to share whatever it is that got them to where they are, with somebody else. There's enough money out there for everyone. If that's the goal, if that's the point, like you're saying, I'm keeping this to myself, because I want to make all the money in the world, well, you can't, you can't reach every corner of the world, everybody in the world has not heard Beyonce, okay? So when you think about that, just understand that if everybody can do something, there's no reason for the one person to try to do everything, because I just really don't think that that's a feasible thing.

But like I said, bottom line is, see if there is a way, and maybe not every day, not every month, every year, but when the situation arises, when you see that person in need, consider giving them some information, giving them a hand, and I think that you will be very pleased and surprised at how your life will change because you took the time out to help somebody else. Thank you so much for joining me for today's episode. I really appreciate it, and thank you for overlooking any of the background noises that you heard that wouldn't normally be there. I hope to be back in my studio, come this next episode, but if not, I thank you for your grace ahead of time.

As far as your platform, just think about it. Think about the fact that you weren't always where you are now, and how somebody nine times out of 10 helped you, because there is no such thing as a self-made man, nobody makes themselves. So the fact that somebody helped you to get where you are, definitely consider trying to help somebody else so that they can come up as well. You know where to find me, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, adhayevat, that's at H-Y-E-B-E-T-E, or just look for the hashtag, tweet trends.

Thanks again, and I'll see you guys next week. Have an awesome weekend. Bye.
