It is a common practice to compare your salary to someone in the office (or your cousin in the USA) and feel low and depressed about your salary (in fact pity on you). We place our worth entirely on the money we earn and that proves to be detrimental to our mental health. This forces us to join the rat race and the race continues forever. But even though you win the race still you are the rat. Now a new race begins with some other higher-earning rat.
