You're In A Rut Boy

from John Dyhouse · host John Dyhouse

This is the first of two more songs I wrote within a month of each other in 1979. Neither song became a song I sung often and would have sunk into obscurity except for the entry into my catalogues of lyrics. These songs were completed (but both quite short) but because of being seldom performed the melodies were mostly forgotten and I never even recorded the guitar chords to help me resuciate them and so were almost lost as the years past. I have used what I remembered but a lot of the melodies are new. I have recorded these rough drafts, to serve as a reminder to me and will hopefully , after some rehearsal/practice over write thess recording with something I am happier with. I might even make sure my RH finger nails have been tidied up for the picking. This song was written in September one month after the next song. At less than 2 minutes long one of the shortest songs I ever wrote. Over the summer, I had had a poor output and was obviously looking for something different. Punk had made a mark in the chats (remember those?) and I call the next few songs "my punk period". Thankfully a very short excursion into this genre. This version does have more than three chords but only just. The uke is amplified, but the only effects pedal used is a chorus pedal to try and build up its presence. The "solo" uke parts were very simple chord riffs, mainly being rythmic in nature.
