You’re Not Your Personality But Why It’s Good To Get To Know It Well

from Raw Conversations with Corinne Blum · host Corinne Blum

*Correction: around 30 minutes what I meant to say is:” never has it felt bad to put my ego to the side and apologise when I was wrong. When I found humility and maturity. I think my brain thought I said it out loud but I don’t think the words came out that way! 😊. A lot of our suffering comes from the over identification with our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. We believe we ARE them…but we’re not. This human experience is a dance, a conversation, between the essence of who we truly are and the personality that gives us an identity as a person in this human experience. Now that might sound far out, but the reason why it’s so useful to understand this, is that it creates enough space for you to be able to observe your personality, behaviour and all the thoughts and feelings that come with it, WITHOUT being run by them, or drowned by them or being taken for a ride by them. We have to be willing to go inside. We have to be willing to observe, self-reflect and make the unconscious, conscious. Some might be thinking, “That’s a hell of a lot of work and it sounds kind of scary, why the hell would I do that?! Being “asleep” is so much easier, so much more comfy….” Only it’s not. Waking up to ourselves can feel challenging, confronting and like a lot of work, at first. But it really is the only path to freedom and peace. It is the way to feel the relief you’ve been seeking. Because all of a sudden we’re riding the wave vs being bashed around by it. All of a sudden we have hold of the reins, rather than being thrown around by an uncontrollable stallion. This path of being human is a humbling one and the ego likes to put up a good fight. It likes to be “right.” But when we do the inner work and grow, when we can say in certain situations, “I’m sorry, I made a mistake, I was wrong,” we open our hearts, we create connection and we reside in a kind of “isness” that holds the pure truth of who we are. And from that place we emanate love more freely. We become the beings we have always been but only forgotten along the way. Tune in for more… Loving you from afar, Corinne www.corinneblum.com Facebook: @corinneblum @corinneblumcoach Instagram: @corinneblum @theauthenticselfcoach
