A Brigham City seventh-grader was recognized Thursday night for launching a winter donation effort that has helped families across northern Utah. Cary Fisher of the American Legion Auxiliary presented the Youth Good Deed Award to Tate Keesler for starting a project called “Take a Stand” during the October federal government shutdown. “When the government shutdown in October he saw a need and he and his mom started what they called ‘Take a Stand,’” Fisher said.
