Youth Speaker Mike Marino Discusses Overcoming Teen Depression and Helping Students Succeed In Life

Mike Marino was this week's guest on Success Profiles Radio. He is a youth speaker based in Colorado who has written a book called "How To Survive College With Starving To Death". He also speaks on teen depression and suicide as these are issues close to his heart. Mike lost 5 of his friends to suicide in the span of 18 months and decided he needed to share his message to give hope to struggling teens. We talked about several topics, including building self-esteem and confidence, and giving yourself permission to follow your dreams. Too many people live in a world where they feel the need for external validation. We discussed how important it is to follow your heart and follow your passion without regard for what others think. In addition, we talked about the value of positive input whether it is from the people we are surrounded by or the books we read. We discussed several specific books that have impacted each of us.
