YouTube's potential to further limit skip functionality

A Reddit thread discusses the recent changes made to YouTube's mobile app regarding the skip button. Users are expressing frustration with the platform's increasing ad presence, with some comparing the new skip button to a loading bar that appears after the skip timer has elapsed. The users are also concerned about YouTube's potential to further limit skip functionality and increase the length of ads, and they are questioning the effectiveness of ad campaigns when users actively seek to avoid them. The thread also touches upon the issue of Google's monopoly on advertising, the potential for lawsuits aimed at breaking up the company, and the existence of alternative platforms like Firefox and Revanced that offer an ad-free experience.
