התוכן ענינו של נשיא בישראל, מלשון נשיאות, הוא – להעלות ולנשא את כל אנשי הדור, וכמו שנאמר למשה רבינו "נשא את ראש בני ישראל". היינו, שלא זו בלבד שתפקידו הוא "אשר יוצאים ואשר יביאם" – שנמצא ביחד עם העם ודואג לכל עניניהם בסבר פנים יפות וכו' – הנה עוד מעלה ומנשא אותם, עד גם את ה"ראש" שלהם, לדרגתו הוא. שזה דורש כחות מיוחדים ועד לענין של מסירת נפש. וכמ"ש בגמ' שעל משה רבינו נאמר "טוב עין הוא יבורך כי נתן מלחמו לדל": הוא מתעסק בעצמו גם עם "דל" – דרגא הכי פחותה, ונותן לו – ו"כל הנותן בעין יפה הוא נותן" – "מלחמו" – שבו תלוי קיום האדם, היינו שנותן לו מצרכיו ההכרחיים שבזה תלוי כל סדר ההשתלשלות! וככל עניני התורה יש ללמוד הוראה מהנהגה זו, ועאכו"כ כאשר מדובר אודות אתפשטותא דמשה שבכל דרא באופן נעלה עמוק ורחב יותר – נשיא הדור שאצלו ישנם כל הענינים ביתר שאת.ב' חלקים משיחת אור ליום ג' פ' ברכה, י"ג תשרי ה'תשד"מ ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=08-07-2024 Synopsis The role of a Nasi of the Jewish people is to uplift the Jewish people of their generation, as Moshe was told, “Lift up (‘naso’) the head of the Jewish people.” Meaning, the nasi’s role is not just to care about the people and be invested in them, feeling their joy and their pain and doing it all “with a pleasant countenance”) – but also to elevate and uplift them, including their “heads,” to the nasi’s own level. This requires special abilities and even self-sacrifice. The Gemara explains that the verse, “He that has a generous eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the destitute” refers to Moshe Rabbeinu: he was personally involved with the people, even the spiritually “destitute,” and gave generously “of his bread” – that which his life and all of Seder Hishtalshelus depended on.
