התוכן מזה שע"י נתינת מחצית השקל בלבד קיבלו חלק בכל קרבנות הציבור רואים הענין ש"התורה חסה על ממונן של ישראל". וההוראה: מנין בא הסדר לאחרונה שמבזבזים כסף לנסיעות מעבר לים ל"ברית", חתונה או "תנאים" של קרוב משפחה או חבר וכו'?! ובפרט תלמידי הישיבות שענינם הוא ללמוד תורה באופן של "תורתו אומנתו"! (אם יש להם כסף מיותר שיתנו א"ז לצדקה לזכות ענינים אלו!), ועד"ז בנוגע להנסיעות ל"מקומות הקדושים": בחור שיש לו כמה מסכתות בש"ס או מאמרי חסידות שלא למד עדיין ‏–‏ מה חסר לו?... הנסיעה ל"מקומות הקדושים"?! ועבור ענינים אלו מכניסים א"ע לחובות וכו'?! וכן בנוגע להנהלת הישיבה שנותנת רשות לנסיעות כאלו: הרי תפקידם הוא לחנך את התלמידים שילמדו נגלה וחסידות בהתמדה ושקידה (ולדאוג שלא יחסר להם ענינים גשמיים)! שיחליטו בעצמם אם באמת צריכים לנסוע מעבר לים לחתונה של אח או אחות ולבזבז כסף לזה ‏–‏ אני לא ראיתי סדר כזה בדור הקודם...משיחת מוצש"ק פ' משפטים, פ' שקלים, ה'תשל"ט ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=26-02-2025 Synopsis In the fact that donating just a half-shekel acquires a share in all communal sacrifices, we see how “The Torah spares the money of the Jewish people.” Where does the recent practice of squandering money to travel overseas for a bris, a wedding, an engagement of a relative or friend come from? Especially yeshiva students, whose focus should be on learning Torah in a such a way that “Torah is their occupation.” (If they have extra money, they should give it to tzedakah in merit of the simcha). Similarly regarding trips to the holy sites: A bochur who has yet to learn numerous masechtos or maamarim – what’s he lacking… a trip to holy sites?! And people go into debt for such things? This also applies to the yeshiva administration that grants permission for such trips: Their role is to educate the students to study Nigleh and Chassidus diligently and tirelessly (and to ensure that the students lack nothing in material matters).
