However, whereas on Yom Kippur it can be seen only in the Holy of Holies, on Sukkos it is revealed for all to see, that the mitzvah of Sukkah protects the Jewish people in every time and place (like the Clouds of Honor). This recurs every year on Sukkos, in such a way that “your generations will know” (not just taking it on faith), and in such a way that even the gentile nations can see it.
