התוכן [המשך] החילוק הכללי בין ג' תקופות הנ"ל בנשיאות כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר: תקופה הא' היתה תקופה של מסירות נפש בפועל על כל דבר שהי' ידוע שעושים זאת כי זהו רצונו ית', והמס"נ הקשה ביותר – להורות ליהודי שני למסור את נפשו... גם לאחר שזה שנשלח לפניו נתפס והוגלה... בתקופה הב' הי' הקושי המיוחד כתוצאה מ"ויקנאו בו אחיו" (ואכמל"ב), ולמרות זאת המשיך בהפצת היהדות בידעו שזהו השליחות של "ואביו שמר את הדבר". התקופה הג' בארה"ב, "חצי כדור התחתון", שמיד בבואו הכריז ש"אַמריקע איז נישט אַנדערש" מה"בית הישן" ב"חצי כדור העליון", שבזה הי' קושי המיוחד לשנות את ההנהגה והרגילות של ארה"ב במשך עשרות שנים עד אז. הצד השווה בכל הג' תקופות הי' – מס"נ! והרי בכלל, גם כאשר א' מוסר נפשו בענין א', אי"ז מחייב כלל שימסור נפשו גם בענין ב', אבל במי שמס"נ הוא עצם מציאותו – ה"ה מוסר נפש בכל מעמד ומצב. לאחרי שהוא "סלל את הדרך", יכול כ"א ללכת לבטח בדרך זו.משיחת מוצש"ק פ' בשלח, יו"ד שבט ה'תשל"ד ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=18-01-2024 Synopsis [Continuation.] The general difference between the three aforementioned periods in the leadership of my father-in-law, the Rebbe is as follows: The first period was a time of actual mesiras nefesh, and moreover, a far more difficult mesiras nefesh – that of instructing another Jew to give up his life…and even when the person before him had been caught and exiled. In the second period, the unique challenge was that “his brothers envied him” (and now is not the time to elaborate), yet still he continued to spread Judaism in the knowledge that this was his mission, “and his father awaited the matter.” In the third period, he came to the United States, in the “bottom hemisphere;” immediately upon his arrival he declared that “America is no different” from the “old home” in the “top hemisphere.” This involved the particular challenge of changing customs and habits acquired over many decades in the United States. The common denominator between all three periods was his mesiras nefesh! Generally, even if someone has mesiras nefesh in one context, it doesn’t mean he’ll succeed at having mesiras nefesh in another. However, when a person’s whole identity is mesiras nefesh – he has mesiras nefesh of every kind and in every circumstance.
