התוכן רוב הצרות והבלבולים היום נובעים מכך שאין קשר בין המוח והלב. שאע"פ שהאדם מבין בשכלו שאסור לגזול וכיו"ב, אבל "העין רואה והלב חומד", והמוח אינו שליט על הלב לשעבד את הלב למה שמבין בשכלו. ועוד יותר: הלב שליט על המוח – הוא מנצל את שכלו למלאות תאוות לבו! ואפי' אם זה מתחיל עם דברים קלים אבל מזה משתלשל ענינים חמורים יותר. Although a person understands intellectually that he shouldn’t steal etc., “The eye sees and the heart desires,” and instead of the mind ruling over the heart so that the heart does the mind’s bidding, the heart rules over the mind – using the intellect to fulfill its desires.
