התוכן הרמב"ם כותב (בהל' ע"ז) "בן ארבעים שנה הכיר אברהם את בוראו". ובגמ' [נדרים] איתא שזה הי' כשהי' "בן ג' שנים", ובמדרש איתא "בן מ"ח שנה". והנה אף שישנה גירסא א' במדרש כמ"ש הרמב"ם, אבל צ"ל מדוע בחר הרמב"ם דוקא גירסא זו? וגם צ"ל מה שהצ"צ באוה"ת, כשמתווך בין מ"ש בגמ' להמדרש, ש"בן ג' שנים" הי' התחלת העיון, ובהיותו "בן מ"ח שנה" הגיע לשלימות ההכרה (ומקשר זאת עם הענין ד"התורה נקנית במ"ח" מעלות) – אינו מביא כלל את שיטת הרמב"ם של "בן מ' שנה"?! וי"ל: גם הרמב"ם מבאר שמ"ש בגמ' "בן ג' שנים" הי' ההתחלה, אלא שבחר בגירסא ש"בן ארבעים שנה" הגיע לשלימות ההכרה, כי בזה מובן מדוע דוקא אז הגיע לזה – כמפורש במשנה "בן ארבעים לבינה"! אלא שאברהם המשיך לעלות בעבודתו, וכשהגיע לבן מ"ח הגיע בזה לשלימות נעלית יותר. ומה שהצ"צ בחר דוקא בגירסא ש"בן מ"ח שנה", כי כדי להגיע לאותן מעלות נעלות ביותר אודותן מדבר הצ"צ לא מספיק השלימות של "בן מ' שנה" אלא צ"ל גם הענין ד"בן מ"ח שנה". משיחת מוצש"ק פ' נח, אור לז' מרחשון ה'תש"מ ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=20-10-2023 Synopsis The Rambam writes (in Hilchos Avodah Zarah) that “Avraham was forty years old when he recognized his Creator.” However, the Gemara in Nedarim states that Avraham was three years old, while the Midrash states that he was forty-eight years old. Though there is a version of the Midrash stating like the Rambam that he was forty, why did the Rambam specifically choose that version? Moreover: in Or HaTorah, the Tzemach Tzedek discusses and resolves the apparent contradiction between the Gemara and the Midrash, but he doesn’t mention the Rambam’s opinion (age forty)?! We can explain that Rambam learns that the Gemara is talking about the beginning of Avraham’s journey, so it says he was three years old.
