In 1788, the first Australian convicts arrived on the First Fleet as part of a 1,500-strong colonisation party that included military and civilians. Admiral Arthur Phillip founded the penal colony of New South Wales on January 26, 1788, marking the beginning of Australia's settlement as a penal colony. Fast forward to 2021, and the question is raised whether Australia has traded away too much of its liberty in the name of security and stability. The program aims to dive deep into the current state of politics in Australia and explore the extent to which emergency restrictions have been imposed on the country. How long can a democracy maintain such restrictions before it becomes a concern for its citizens and their fundamental rights?
