Zero to Hero

Welcome to "Get Into Cloud," the podcast that demystifies the journey from zero experience or degree to landing a role in the Cloud. I'm your host, Coin, and today we dive into the personal stories and experiences that highlight the unconventional paths individuals take to break into the tech industry. In this episode, I share my own journey, starting from a mathematics degree and a stint as a math teacher to eventually finding my way into the IT world. Alongside my story, I recount tales of others who, like a shade tree mechanic, honed their skills outside formal education, building a reputation and expertise that opened doors in the tech landscape. The podcast emphasizes a key truth: the IT industry, including Cloud, DevOps, security, and software development, welcomes individuals with zero degrees or experience. The question isn't whether it's possible but whether you have what it takes. To guide aspiring tech enthusiasts, the episode outlines a three-step approach: acquiring skills through various training paths, gaining practical experience through projects and labs, and building a network that includes leveraging existing connections and online platforms like LinkedIn. Certifications are discussed as valuable door-openers, but the podcast stresses the importance of balancing them with hands-on experience. The final step in the journey involves networking and branding yourself, showcasing your journey and ambition to potential employers. Whether you're transitioning from another field or starting from scratch, "Get Into Cloud" encourages you to embrace the challenges, invest in your learning, and take the necessary steps to break into the ever-evolving world of technology. Remember, it's a journey that's simple but not easy, yet entirely possible with determination and the right approach. Tune in, be encouraged, and good luck on your path to a rewarding tech career!
