Rav Yosef offers two additional explanations for why the altar in the Second Temple was constructed larger than the altar in the First Temple. There was a space between the altar and the ramp - the origin and function of this gap are clarified. If the ramp was thirty-two cubits long and the altar itself also measured thirty-two cubits in length, how does this align with the Mishna in Midot 5:2, which states that the total length was sixty-two cubits?
