It is not the winning but the taking part that counts. The sentiment behind the Olympic ethos is just as applicable to the bid to host the Games as the actual events. Over the past 16 days, many of us have watched, to varying degrees, the winter Olympic Games held in the Russian resort city of Sochi on TV. And I believe that many have been overwhelmed by the charm and elegance of the games taking place on ice and snow. So on this edition of "Life Upclose", let's revisit some of the most beautiful and exciting moments of Sochi and learn more about China's bidding efforts towards hosting the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. We will also introduce you to a pair of Chinese competitors who have closed the curtain on their Olympic dream in Sochi, but whose story of perseverance, love and romance will be dearly remembered.
