民国时期，东北地区山大林密，土匪团伙众多。土匪简称“胡子”，土匪团伙简称“绺子”，大小规模不一。有的土匪是单干，也称为“搓单”，比如抚顺地区有个“穿山甲”就是独来独往；还有三五个人，就是所谓的“棒子手”，没啥枪支武器，连小绺子也算不上，拎着棒子到处劫道、抢劫，欺负老百姓，这样的最遭人痛恨；
