一棵老树生了病，有些叶子黄了。一个医生飞来，落在树上。他用嘴这里敲敲，那里敲敲，找到了生虫子的地方，就啄一个洞。他伸进长舌头，把虫子一个一个地钩出来吃。吃完虫子，张开翅膀飞走了。老树的病让医生治好了，慢慢地长出新叶子来。这个医生就是啄木鸟。
