Zika Virus...What You Need to Know

from HearSay with Cathy Lewis · host WHRO Public Media

According to the World Health Organization, the Zika virus is spreading explosively. The mosquito-borne disease has the potential to infect as many as 4 million people across the Americas, and has been linked to severe birth defects in babies. Because of the potential for widespread cases of the disease, EVMS and Virginia's Department of Public Health have organized a public information session to educate the public about the dangers of the Zika virus. Those organizers join us today to talk about preventative measures that can be taken as the weather starts to warm and disease-transmitting mosquito populations surge.
