Zimbabwe Election Day

from African Dialogue · host Channel Africa

Scores of Zimbabweans are in long queues in order to cast their vote in the first election without the ousted authoritarian leader Robert Mugabe running for the presidential office. Election observers are in the country to monitor a process that some opposition parties have claimed is biased against them despite electoral commission assurances that it will be credible. A record of more than 20 presidential candidates and nearly 130 political parties are participating in this year’s historical election. Channel Africa presenter spoke to political analysts Dr William Mpofu, Dr Ibbo Mandaza and Channel Africa Zimbabwe correspondent Simon Muchemwa.
