The idea that the Jewish people should or would be restored to their homeland is not present in Christianity for its first fifteen hundred years. Both the Catholic and Orthodox churches saw the church itself as being a spiritual Israel, and that Jesus Christ had extended God’s covenant with the Jews to all people.
