Time to go to our third segment where we zoom into a country on the African continent. Today we look into Chad and Benin where presidential elections were held this week. In Chad it is widely expected that incumbent Idris Deby will win a sixth term. Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres are among those who have voiced criticism. And in Benin opposition groups boycotted the election rejecting to President Patrice Talon’s quest for a second term.Benin was once praised as a vibrant democracy in the region, but most opposition figures are now exiled, disqualified by electoral reforms or have been targeted for investigation by a special court.We are now joined on the line by Dr Charles Sinkala 55 States President and Organisation of African Political Parties.
