...Turns out we had that data. … il s'avère que nous le savions
by The African Journal of Health Economics, Systems and Policies (AJHESP)
...turns out, we had that data! The data existed. Someone produced it. Someone published it. Someone presented it at a conference in a hotel that cost more than the annual health budget of the district the study was about. Then the policy went in a different direction anyway. Everyone in the room suspected why. Nobody said it. This podcast does. Each episode puts three people in the same room: a researcher who did the work, a decision-maker who was supposed to act on it, and an AJHESP editor who makes sure neither escapes with the comfortable version of events. The questions nobody puts in the abstract: Why was this research question chosen? Who decided the others were not worth asking? What went wrong for the evidence to go one way and the policy another? Are researchers producing knowledge for the systems that need it, or for the journals and funders that reward something else? <

ABOUT THIS SHOW
...turns out, we had that data!
The questions nobody puts in the abstract:
Why was this research question chosen?
Who decided the others were not worth asking?
What went wrong for the evidence to go one way and the policy another?
Are researchers producing knowledge for the systems that need it, or for the journals and funders that reward something else?
