Three Words Carved in a Tree: The Kelly Cochran Case

Three Words Carved in a Tree: The Kelly Cochran CaseKelly and Jason grew up next door to each other, married young, and made a promise on their wedding night that most people would have laughed off by breakfast. Twelve years later, in a corner of Michigan where the nearest anything is 45 minutes away, that promise turned into a plan. This one has a woman at the center who never once stopped talking, and almost never told the same story twice. There is a tree in an Indiana park with 3 words carved into it, and those 3 words are the reason anyone knows what happened to Chris Regan at all.In October 2014, 53-year-old Air Force veteran Christopher Regan disappeared from Iron River, Michigan, and the homicide investigation led detectives straight to his coworker and lover, Kelly Cochran, and her husband Jason. With no body, degraded forensic evidence, and a police chief running a department of 4 officers, the cold case sat for 18 months until an FBI tip, an autopsy in Indiana, and one detective's very unusual tactic broke it open into a first-degree murder conviction and a life sentence without parole.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. A 13-Year-Old Killer: The Murder of Derrick Robie

A 13-Year-Old Killer: The Murder of Derrick RobieOn August 2, 1993, 4-year-old Derrick Robie was lured into a wooded area one block from his home in Savona, New York, and murdered. The suspect was 13-year-old Eric Smith, a neighbor, and the homicide investigation that followed made Smith the youngest defendant ever tried as an adult for murder in New York State, leading to a second-degree murder conviction, a sentence of 9 years to life, and 11 parole board hearings across 27 years.Savona had fewer than 1,000 people in it, and Derrick knew most of them by name. He sat on a corner greeting neighbors and the town called him the unofficial mayor. When he disappeared on a walk he had made a hundred times with his mother, everyone assumed an outsider had come through. The truth was already inside the village, riding a bike, and it had been leaving warning signs for 4 years that nobody knew how to read. This is a story about two boys, one town, and a question a family friend could not stop thinking about.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. A Videotape and a First Grade Mind: The Shelton Holloway Story

A Videotape and a First Grade Mind: The Shelton Holloway StoryIn April of 1987, 17 year old Patricia Ann Hannah disappeared after a school dance in York, Alabama, and two weeks later her body was found behind an Alabama Power office. A fellow Sumter County High School student named Shelton Jerome Holloway, a special education student with a documented intellectual disability, was arrested and eventually convicted based largely on a videotaped confession. The legal question at the center of the case wasn't whether he said the words on that tape. It was whether a young man functioning at a first grade level could actually understand what he was giving up when he waived his rights. This one pulls you into a small Alabama town, a missing girl, and a confession that split experts, courts, and advocates for decades. The crime and the trial end up asking two completely different questions, and neither one has an easy answer.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Cooler That Wouldn't Sink: The Anne Marie Fahey Story

The Cooler That Wouldn't Sink: The Anne Marie Fahey StoryAnne Marie Fahey, a 30-year-old appointments secretary for Delaware's governor, vanished from Wilmington in June 1996 after having dinner with prominent attorney Thomas Capano. The investigation that followed became Delaware's first murder conviction ever secured without a body, a weapon, or a confirmed cause of death. This one starts at a dinner table in Philadelphia and ends with a fisherman patching bullet holes in a cooler he had no idea he'd fished off the Jersey coast. In between, there's a diary that changes tone completely over 2 years, a mistress who bought the murder weapon, a brother with a fishing boat, and a courtroom collapse that undid one of Delaware's most connected men in real time. This is a story about charm, control, and what happens when someone spends their whole life assuming they'll never get caught.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Bobby Joe Long: The Serial Killer a 17-Year-Old Girl Took Down

Bobby Joe Long: The Serial Killer a 17-Year-Old Girl Took DownBobby Joe Long murdered at least 10 women across Tampa, Florida between March and November 1984, evading investigators until a 17-year-old survivor's memory cracked the case wide open. The homicide investigation, later corroborated by FBI forensic evidence and Long's own confession, led to his conviction and a 1988 death sentence.A body that survived collision after collision since childhood. A marriage that fell apart after a motorcycle wreck seemed to rewire something in him completely. And then, in the middle of a killing spree that had five agencies scrambling, a Krispy Kreme employee riding home on her bike got pulled off it by a man with a gun to her head. What she did over the next 26 hours, while blindfolded and terrified, is the reason this case ever got solved at all. This is the story of Bobby Joe Long, the women he killed, and the teenager who out-thought him and spent the rest of her life making sure he never touched anyone else.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. 50 Dollars and a New Name: The Jeremy Bryan Jones Story

50 Dollars and a New Name: The Jeremy Bryan Jones StoryIn September 2004, 43-year-old Lisa Nichols was raped and murdered inside her Turnerville, Alabama home just days after Hurricane Ivan tore through the region, and the man responsible had been living under a stolen identity for four years thanks to a fingerprint system that failed him. Jeremy Bryan Jones walked free through three separate arrests before investigators connected him to the crime, and once he was caught, he didn't stop talking. He confessed to killing over 20 people across five states. Some of it was true. A lot of it wasn't. This is the story of a man who learned early that charm gets you further than violence, and what happens when an entire justice system can't tell his lies from his truth.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Grandparents Who Killed for Cattle Money

The Grandparents Who Killed for Cattle MoneyPicture the most harmless looking couple you can imagine. Now picture that couple with a farm, a livestock scam, and a body count. Ray and Faye Copeland spent fifty years married before they became, at 66 and 69, the oldest couple ever sentenced to death row in American history. This one has a quilt in it. It has a list. It has a man who talked his way out of a barn and lived to make the call that ended it all. It's one of the strangest true crime cases you'll hear this year, and it's all true.Ray and Faye Copeland murdered at least five homeless drifters on their Missouri farm between 1986 and 1989, luring each man with promises of work before Ray executed them with a .22 rifle. Investigators eventually recovered a handwritten list of twelve names in Faye's own hand, only five of which were ever matched to a body.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Fixer, the Photos, and the Death of Tom

The Fixer, the Photos, and the Death of Tom MerrimanIn December 2020, a Solana Beach, California woman named Jade Janks drugged and killed the man she'd called her father for over two decades, then spent New Year's Day disguising his body as a pile of trash in their shared driveway. Thomas Merriman was a beloved butterfly conservationist. Jade Janks was the stepdaughter who'd cooked him dinner every night of the pandemic. Somewhere between those two facts sits a discovery on his computer that she said broke something in her permanently, and a string of increasingly desperate text messages to a man she called "the fixer" that ended up telling prosecutors almost the entire story. This is a case where the victim's public image and the killer's private allegations never got to sit in the same room together, because the woman who could have proven her own motive burned the evidence herself, on purpose, the same night he died.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Captain Who Hired a Hitman The Harding Story

The Captain Who Hired a Hitman: The Harding StoryOn September 26, 2022, the body of 53-year-old Sacramento HVAC contractor Michael Harding was discovered inside a vacant home for sale on Glasgow Road in Burkesville, Kentucky, shot four times. The investigation that followed led Kentucky State Police, FBI agents, and detectives across three states to California Highway Patrol Captain Julie Harding and her secret partner Thomas O'Donnell, a 60-year-old amateur hitman from Napa Valley, in one of the most disturbing murder-for-hire cases of the decade. This is a story about a 22-year law enforcement career that ended in a conspiracy, a $220,000 cash withdrawal nobody could trace, and 194 phone calls between two people who thought they had everything figured out. We follow Michael Harding from a quiet Sacramento neighborhood to an empty room in rural Kentucky where someone he had never met was waiting for him. We look at how a wiped phone, a Ring camera, a Netflix login, and one rambling call to a brand-new supervisor told investigators everything they needed to know. There is a verdict in this case. There is also a question no verdict could ever answer.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The House of Horrors: Billy Mansfield's Family of Predators

The House of Horrors: Billy Mansfield's Family of PredatorsIn 1980, along the Florida coast from Spring Hill to Daytona Beach, a chilling pattern emerged that Detroit investigators would later connect to serial killer Billy Mansfield Jr. Six women and teenage girls vanished or were found buried beneath a mobile home in Weeki Wachee Acres, with DNA technology in 2022 finally identifying one victim as 16-year-old Theresa Fillingim after 42 years. The FBI continues searching for additional bodies as recently as June 2026.But this story doesn't start with bodies in the ground. It starts with a father who couldn't stop touching children, a son who learned violence was normal, and a rural Florida community in the 1970s where nobody asked questions and everybody stayed quiet. You're going to meet women who went out for a drink and never came home, a teenage girl at a campground shower who became a Jane Doe for decades, and a family compound so messed up that neighbors just drove past it faster. This is about what happens when institutions fail at every level, when a kid grows up watching his dad evade prison for rape and learns that's just how the world works. We're going through the psychology, the family dynamics, the cultural moment that let predators like Mansfield operate across state lines with no database to connect the dots. You'll hear about the prison escape, the bag brothers, the woman who got away, and the brother who's still living on that property forty years later. This case is still open.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Blood in the Rocket City: The 1998 Franklin Family Massacre

Blood in the Rocket City: The 1998 Franklin Family MassacreOn March 10, 1998, seventeen-year-old Jeffrey Brendan Franklin attacked his own family inside their home at 1305 Camelot Drive in Huntsville, Alabama, killing his parents Gerald and Cynthia Franklin and critically wounding three of his four younger siblings with a sledgehammer, hatchet, butcher knife, and a mechanic’s rat-tail file. The Huntsville Police investigation led by detective Mac McCutcheon, the journals and Satanic writings recovered from Jeffrey’s bedroom, the prescription psychiatric medications he had been taking, and Alabama’s pursuit of the juvenile death penalty turned one afternoon into one of the most studied family-violence cases of the late twentieth century. You always hear about cases like this happening in the bad part of town, and this one happened in the part of town where every dad worked for NASA. Camelot was a subdivision in the safest stretch of Rocket City, Alabama, and it sat at the center of the wildest convergence of late-nineties American chaos you can think of: pediatric Prozac, the Satanic Panic, a cop who was also a Baptist preacher, and a global human rights fight that helped reshape American law four years later. This is the story of an honors-track American family, the seventeen-year-old who came home from school first, and the quiet that settled over a brick house on Camelot Drive that nobody on the cul-de-sac has ever fully shaken.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Fifty Dollars and a Bus Ticket: The Robert Alton Harris Story

Fifty Dollars and a Bus Ticket: The Robert Alton Harris StoryOn July 5, 1978, sixteen-year-old best friends John Mayeski and Michael Baker were abducted, murdered, and left in the brush near Miramar Lake in San Diego, California, by Robert Alton Harris and his younger brother Daniel during the planning of a bank robbery. The investigation, the trial, the criminal profile of the suspect, and the fourteen-year appeals process that followed turned this homicide into one of the most consequential capital cases in American legal history.Robert Alton Harris came into the world already broken. He was born premature because his father kicked his pregnant mother in the stomach. He was abandoned at fourteen, diagnosed with schizophrenia at sixteen, and released from federal custody with fifty dollars and a Greyhound ticket at nineteen. The murders he committed were callous in a way that still leaves people speechless when they read the case files. But the story underneath them is older, stranger, and far more painful than any of the headlines from 1992 ever let on.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Real-Life Boogeyman: Albert Fish in 1920s New York

The Real-Life Boogeyman: Albert Fish in 1920s New YorkIn 1928 New York City, ten-year-old Grace Budd walks out of her family’s Manhattan apartment with a soft-spoken “farmer” named Frank Howard and disappears, pulling her parents, detectives, and eventually a courtroom into one of the most disturbing homicide investigations in American history. The search for Grace exposes a pattern of missing children, a mild-mannered house painter named Hamilton “Albert” Fish, and a criminal profile that collides with questions of insanity, responsibility, and what justice looks like when the suspect looks like somebody’s grandfather instead of a monster. In this episode, we walk slowly and carefully through Albert Fish’s life, from a brutal orphanage childhood to the day he knocks on the Budd family’s door, and we sit with the human moments around him: the parents who just want their kid to get a job, the kids playing in city hallways, and the detective who will not let this case go. It is a heavy story, but told like a late-night conversation with a friend, with room for context, a little observational humor where it fits, and a focus on the people rather than just the headlines.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Beauty School Killer: What Really Happened in Wenatchee

The Beauty School Killer: What Really Happened in WenatcheeIn February 2010, 17-year-old Mackenzie Cowell disappeared from the Academy of Hair Design in Wenatchee, Washington, and four days later her body was found on the banks of the Columbia River. The homicide investigation that followed became the largest multi-agency case the region had seen in years, eventually drawing in the FBI and zeroing in on a 29-year-old beauty school classmate named Christopher Scott Wilson, a man with a Hannibal Lecter tattoo on his forearm and a history that made investigators stop and take a very long pause. What started as a missing person report in a small apple-farming town turned into a murder case full of fake informants, a high-profile defense attorney, DNA evidence on duct tape, and a conviction that still sparks debate online today. This is a story about a driven teenager with dinner plans, a man whose obsessions lived right out in the open, a community with a long memory about being burned by the law, and a plea deal that left everybody holding something that felt more like a question mark than an answer. He walked out of prison in December 2023. He still says he didn't do it.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Two Dead Fathers and a Demon: The 2008 Texas Exorcism Murder

Two Dead Fathers and a Demon: The 2008 Texas Exorcism MurderThe 2008 murder of 13-month-old Amora Bain Carson in Tatum, Texas remains one of the most disturbing capital cases in modern American history. Her mother, Jesseca Bain Carson, and the mother's boyfriend, Blaine Keith Milam, were both convicted of capital murder after a sheriff's investigation, forensic evidence including 24 human bite marks, and a partial jailhouse confession placed them at the center of what they later called an exorcism. Milam was sentenced to death; Carson received life without parole under the Texas law of parties. He was executed by lethal injection on September 25, 2025.This one moves slowly through the parts most people don't know. There's a boy who was raised in a sickroom instead of a classroom, and a teenage girl who came into a small inheritance and lost herself somewhere inside it. There's a Ouija board, a pawned chainsaw, and 30 hours that ended with the smallest possible victim. There's the bite mark science, the IQ tests, and the question of who was steering whom. Werner Herzog couldn't stop thinking about it. Neither could the courts, for 17 years.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Killed by a Fake Cop: The Kaylee Sawyer Story

Killed by a Fake Cop: The Kaylee Sawyer StoryThe 2016 murder of Kaylee Sawyer in Bend, Oregon shocked a town that thought it was untouchable. Edwin Enoc Lara, a Central Oregon Community College campus safety officer who had failed his police psychological evaluation, abducted and killed the 23-year-old student in his marked patrol vehicle, sparking a multi-state manhunt, a federal kidnapping case, and the legislation now known as Kaylee's Law.This is the story of how one community college dressed its security guards up to look exactly like cops, then handed a man with documented warning signs the badge, the cage car, and the keys to the campus. Kaylee was walking home after a fight with her boyfriend. He pulled up wearing the full uniform, offered her a ride, and the back door locked behind her. What happened next exposed years of institutional failures nobody acted on. By the end, two states were involved, a survivor named Aundreah Maes was facing him down in court, and the entire state of Oregon was rewriting how campus security operates.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Digital Leash: Serial Murder Under Government Supervision

The Digital Leash: Serial Murder Under Government SupervisionIn Orange County, California, between October 2013 and March 2014, registered sex offenders Steven Dean Gordon and Franc Cano abducted, raped, and murdered at least five women while actively wearing state and federally mandated GPS ankle monitors. The investigation, led by Anaheim homicide detective Julissa Trapp, eventually cracked the case when a victim's body surfaced on a recycling conveyor belt, triggering a digital dragnet that matched both men's trackers to the crime scenes. The system that was supposed to make these men impossible to ignore was watching everything and doing nothing. Two convicted predators living together, hunting together, cutting off their ankle monitors more than once and literally walking away… and the response was basically a stern letter.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Bleach Killer: The Kimberly Saenz Murders

The Bleach Killer: The Kimberly Saenz MurdersIn April 2008, licensed vocational nurse Kimberly Clark Saenz committed one of the most disturbing healthcare serial killings in American history at a DaVita dialysis clinic in Lufkin, Texas. The homicide investigation connected Saenz to five patient deaths and four aggravated assaults after eyewitnesses watched her draw concentrated household bleach into syringes and inject it into active venous lines. The FBI, CDC, and FDA toxicologists used a groundbreaking forensic biomarker called 3-chlorotyrosine to confirm the poisonings, leading to a capital murder conviction in 2012.This case has every element that makes true crime so hard to look away from. A small East Texas town. A clinic full of vulnerable patients who trusted the woman in scrubs standing over them. A nurse with a fractured past, a collapsing marriage, and an addiction nobody at work seemed to notice. And two patients sitting in dialysis chairs who looked across the room, realized what was happening, and decided to do something about it before the woman in the white coat got to them next.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Nobody Would Miss Them: The Craigslist Murders of Richard Beasley

Nobody Would Miss Them: The Craigslist Murders of Richard BeasleyIn 2011, Richard Beasley of Akron, Ohio was convicted in the homicide investigation surrounding the murders of Ralph Geiger, 56, David Pauley, 51, and Timothy Kern, 47 — three men lured to a remote Noble County location through a fraudulent Craigslist job posting, then shot and buried in shallow graves. A fourth victim, Scott Davis, 49, survived a gunshot wound and escaped through the Ohio woods after dark, triggering a digital forensics investigation that ultimately put Beasley on death row. Here's what makes this one different: Richard Beasley was not a ghost. He was the large, white-bearded man everyone in Akron called Preacher Rich. He spent years sitting across from vulnerable people in jail visiting rooms and courtroom hallways, making himself indispensable to them, so he could eventually burn it all down when the moment was right. These three men were chosen. Beasley sat across from them in restaurant booths and ran actual interviews, screening for whoever had the fewest people who would notice if they vanished. This is a story about economic desperation, a career con man's patience, and a survivor named Scott Davis who refused to die alone in the dark.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. FBI Most Wanted to Motivational Speaker to Murderer: Edward Wayne Edwards

FBI Most Wanted to Motivational Speaker to Murderer: Edward Wayne EdwardsEdward Wayne Edwards, born Charles Wayne Murray, was an armed robber who landed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in 1961 before reinventing himself as a celebrated motivational speaker on prison reform, appearing on national television game shows and lecturing at police academies across the country. Investigators eventually linked him through DNA evidence to at least five confirmed homicides spanning from 1977 to 1996 in Ohio and Wisconsin, including the cold case murders of teenage sweethearts Timothy Hack and Kelly Drew. The man who wrote a book about his own redemption was actively killing people while promoting it. He fooled federal law enforcement, national television audiences, and the entire American corrections system for decades. The person who finally exposed him was his own daughter, who had spent eighteen months matching her childhood memories against cold case databases. This is the story of Edward Wayne Edwards, and it goes places you will not see coming.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Alexandria Assassin: The Strange Descent of Charles Severance

The Alexandria Assassin: The Strange Descent of Charles SeveranceIn December 2003, Nancy Dunning, wife of Alexandria, Virginia Sheriff James Dunning, was shot and killed after answering a knock at her front door, launching a cold case homicide investigation that would remain unsolved for over a decade. Ballistics, eyewitness testimony, and forensic evidence eventually linked the murder to Charles Stanard Severance, a Virginia mechanical engineer and failed political candidate who was also convicted of murdering transportation planner Ronald Kirby in November 2013 and music teacher Ruthanne Lodato in February 2014, earning multiple capital murder convictions and consecutive life sentences.Charles Severance was a Navy Admiral's son with a University of Virginia engineering degree who somewhere between a custody ruling and a decade of solitary drift rewrote his entire reality and started knocking on doors with a .22. He had a list, a manifesto, and a philosophy he called wisdom. Three people in one of America's most outwardly stable cities answered their doors on ordinary afternoons and never walked away from them. This is that story, and it is stranger than you are expecting it to be.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Fuzzy Slipper on the Gas Pedal: The Mackenzie Shirilla Murder Case

Fuzzy Slipper on the Gas Pedal: The Mackenzie Shirilla Murder CaseOn July 31, 2022, in Strongsville, Ohio, 17-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla drove a 2018 Toyota Camry into a brick wall at nearly 100 miles per hour, killing her 20-year-old boyfriend Dominic Russo and their 19-year-old friend Davion Flanagan. Black box telemetry, GPS data pulled from a teen location-sharing app, and thousands of recovered text messages combined to transform what looked like a catastrophic accident into one of the most closely watched vehicular homicide trials in Ohio history, ending in a conviction on all 12 felony counts.Dominic had been trying to leave this relationship for years. Davion was just catching a ride home from a party. Somewhere between a curated TikTok persona, a four-year relationship held together by threats, and a dead-end industrial road at 5:30 in the morning, two young men ran out of time. By the time it was over, a medical examiner had rewritten his findings, a Netflix documentary had landed her dad on administrative leave, and one missed legal deadline, a single day, sealed every door shut permanently. 🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Grief Book: How Kouri Richins Hid a Murder Behind a Children's Story

The Grief Book: How Kouri Richins Hid a Murder Behind a Children's StoryIn March 2022, Eric Richins of Kamas, Utah died of acute fentanyl intoxication, with five times the lethal dose detected in his system. His wife, Kouri Richins, was convicted of first-degree aggravated murder in March 2026 following a trial built on forensic accounting, toxicology reports, witness testimony, and a handwritten letter discovered hidden in a jail cell. She was sentenced to life without parole on May 13, 2026.What makes this case so hard to shake is the year between Eric's death and Kouri's arrest. She appeared on local television. She published a children's grief book about a boy searching for his late father's presence. She moved through her community as a brave, heartbroken widow while investigators quietly reconstructed a picture of nearly $8 million in debt, a fentanyl pipeline through her own housekeeper, and a mother connected to a separate suspicious opioid death. The financial disaster she'd been hiding from Eric for years was always going to catch up with someone. It caught up with him first.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Burlap and Blueprints: Rex Heuermann and the Gilgo Beach Murders

Burlap and Blueprints: Rex Heuermann and the Gilgo Beach MurdersIn April 2026, Rex Andrew Heuermann pleaded guilty to the murders of at least eight women in one of the most devastating serial homicide cases in Long Island history, after a decades-long investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department and the Gilgo Beach Homicide Task Force broke the case through forensic DNA evidence, surveillance, and genetic genealogy. Victims including Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello disappeared between 1993 and 2010 along New York's South Shore, with some remains found wrapped in burlap near Ocean Parkway. He was an architect. He designed buildings for a living. He had a wife, two kids, and a house in the suburbs where he grew up. And on a hard drive in the basement of that house, there was a Word document with sections labeled "Supplies," "Body Prep," and "Things to Remember." This is the story of how Rex Heuermann hid in plain sight for over thirty years, how corruption inside the very police department supposed to stop him helped him do it longer than anyone wants to admit, and how a discarded pizza crust in a Manhattan trash can undid everything he thought he'd built.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Always Laughing: How Demorris Hunter Hid a Serial Killer Behind a Friendly Face

Always Laughing: How Demorris Hunter Hid a Serial Killer Behind a Friendly FaceIn 2002, California parolee Demorris Andy Hunter shot and killed forty-one-year-old Ivora Denise Huntley in Oakland after she intervened in a domestic assault, then fled to Orlando, Florida, where he strangled and concealed the body of thirty-eight-year-old Theresa Ann Green before stealing the identity of a Washington D.C. executive to fund his life as a federal fugitive while his face aired on America's Most Wanted. Convicted of Huntley's murder in California in 2005, Hunter wasn't extradited to Florida to face charges in the Green case until 2015, with the trial concluding in April 2026 with a unanimous twelve to zero death penalty recommendation.Everyone who knew Demorris Hunter said the same thing: he was the nice one, always laughing, the one parents were glad to have around. What they didn't know was that behind that warmth he was building a body count across two states, living under a stolen name, and letting a thirteen-year-old boy grow into a man in his late thirties before anyone answered for what happened to his mother. This one is about the space between who people think you are and what you actually are, and about the people who paid the price for that gap.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Peacemaker: Jesse Alvarez and the Murder of Mario Fierro

The Peacemaker: Jesse Alvarez and the Murder of Mario FierroOn February 1, 2021, Mario Fierro, a 37-year-old social studies teacher and football coach at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, California, was shot and killed outside his home by Jesse Milton Alvarez, the ex-boyfriend of Fierro's fiancée, fellow teacher Amy Gembara. Alvarez had been systematically stalking Gembara for over a year before the homicide, and despite Gembara filing a domestic violence restraining order application in January 2020, a San Diego Superior Court judge denied her petition, citing insufficient evidence of abuse under the legal definitions in place at the time. What makes this case so hard to sit with is the documented trail of warnings that couldn't clear a legal bar. A school's social media post celebrating a teacher's engagement became the starting point for a premeditated murder. A judge called the evidence a tie. A stalker called his internet searches therapeutic. And a man who spent every day of his professional life as a peacemaker walked out his front door one February morning and never made it to school. This episode covers the obsession, the institutional failures, and why the murder of Mario Fierro changed how California thinks about what abuse actually looks like.🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Black Swan Murder: The Trial of Ashley Benefield

Black Swan Murder: The Trial of Ashley BenefieldIn Lakewood Ranch, Florida, on September 27, 2020, retired U.S. Navy intelligence officer Douglas Benefield was fatally shot by his wife, Ashley Benefield, a former professional ballerina and Trump campaign staffer. The Manatee County homicide investigation led to a July 2024 murder trial in which Ashley mounted a battered spouse syndrome defense, resulting in a manslaughter conviction and a 20-year prison sentence handed down December 3, 2024.Doug and Ashley Benefield met at a Palm Beach political dinner in August 2016, and thirteen days later they were married. Thirteen. They launched a ballet company together that imploded almost as fast as it started, burned through the lives of forty-seven international dancers in the process, and then spent years buried in restraining orders and courtrooms before arriving at the day they were supposed to be loading a U-Haul and starting something like a fresh chapter. The medical examiner's findings and Ashley's testimony told two very different stories about what happened in that bedroom. Doug's daughter Eva has been on TikTok ever since, building half a million followers and asking why.#BlackSwanCase #AshleyBenefield #TrueCrime #ManslaughterTrial #DomesticViolenceTrial #StandYourGround #TrueCrimePodcast🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Carroll Edward Cole: The Man Who Asked to Be Stopped

Carroll Edward Cole: The Man Who Asked to Be StoppedCarroll Edward Cole was convicted of murdering at least thirteen women across California, Nevada, Wyoming, and Texas between 1971 and 1980, making him one of the most prolific and underdocumented serial killers of the twentieth century. Despite repeated contact with law enforcement, psychiatric evaluation at multiple state hospitals, and documented confessions of violent homicidal urges, Cole was discharged and released each time, enabling a decade-long killing spree that left investigators scrambling to connect cases spanning half the country. This is not a story about a killer who hid in the shadows. Carroll Cole walked into police stations and told officers exactly what he planned to do. He sat across from psychiatrists and described his compulsions with clinical precision. He asked, repeatedly and explicitly, across twenty years, to be locked up before he hurt anyone. The system heard him every time and let him go anyway. What follows is one of the most infuriating true crime cases you will ever hear, and it is a story about a broken system every bit as much as it is about a broken man.#CarrollEdwardCole #SerialKiller #TrueCrime #MentalHealthFailure #TrueCrimePodcast #SerialKillerHistory #ColdCase🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Six Months of Warnings: What Rochester Missed Before the Brom Massacre

Six Months of Warnings: What Rochester Missed Before the Brom MassacreIn February 1988, sixteen-year-old David Brom murdered his parents, Bernard and Paulette, and two of his younger siblings, Diane and Richard, with an axe at their home in Rochester, Minnesota, in what became the most notorious mass killing in Minnesota state history. The investigation by the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, the subsequent trial involving competing psychiatric testimony, and a landmark insanity defense ruling would shape Minnesota criminal law for decades. The Brom family was everything a quiet Catholic suburb was supposed to produce. Polite. Organized. Deeply religious. People who drove past that house felt good about living in Rochester. And inside it, a sixteen-year-old had been telling anyone who would listen, for six months, exactly what he was planning to do. They figured he was just venting. He wasn't. This episode goes inside the psychological collapse that nobody caught in time, the cultural circus that tried to blame a music tape for four murders, and the 37-year legal journey that ended with David Brom walking out of prison in 2025. Rochester is still working through it.#truecrime #truecrimepodcast #davidbrom #familymurder #rochestermn #juvenilejustice #truecrimecommunity🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Britain's Most Disturbing Love Story: The Moors Murders

Britain's Most Disturbing Love Story: The Moors MurdersIan Brady and Myra Hindley abducted and murdered five children between July 1963 and October 1965 in and around Manchester, England, burying their victims on Saddleworth Moor in what became the most devastating criminal investigation in British history. The case, known as the Moors Murders, led to their conviction in 1966, fundamentally altered British penal law, and left one wound that has never closed: the body of victim Keith Bennett has never been recovered. There are true crime cases that disturb you, and then there are cases that change the way an entire country thinks about trust, safety, and what human beings are capable of doing to each other. This is the Moors Murders, and once you hear how Brady and Hindley operated, the neighborhood they came from, the philosophy they constructed their crimes around, and the terrified 17-year-old who finally stopped them, you will not be able to stop thinking about it. Five victims. Two killers who genuinely believed morality did not apply to them. And one grave on a moor that has never been found.#MoorsMurders #IanBrady #MyraHindley #TrueCrime #KeithBennett #BritishTrueCrime #SaddleworthMoor🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Rise and Fall of Pretty Boy Floyd: Corn Liquor and Submachine Guns

The Rise and Fall of Pretty Boy Floyd: Corn Liquor and Submachine GunsIn October 1934, FBI agents shot and killed Charles Arthur Floyd, known nationwide as "Pretty Boy" Floyd, in an Ohio cornfield, closing the book on one of the most controversial manhunts in American criminal history. Floyd, a Sequoyah County, Oklahoma bank robber elevated to Public Enemy Number One by J. Edgar Hoover's newly formed FBI, was linked to multiple homicides and suspected involvement in the 1933 Kansas City Massacre, a shooting that left four law enforcement officers dead and reshaped the entire architecture of federal law enforcement in the United States. What the official record doesn't quite capture is that back home in the Cookson Hills of Oklahoma, nobody wanted him caught. He paid doctor bills. He left cash under pillows in farmhouses where he slept. He allegedly burned mortgage documents during bank robberies, which made him either a folk hero or the most effective PR manager in Depression-era America. This is the story of a man shaped entirely by a world that kept failing him, and a government that needed a monster badly enough to possibly invent one. Forty thousand people showed up to his funeral.#PrettyBoyFloyd #TrueCrime #TrueCrimePodcast #PublicEnemy #1930sCrime #KansasCityMassacre #DustBowl🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Phantom of Heilbronn: The Most Dangerous Woman Nobody Could Find

The Phantom of Heilbronn: The Most Dangerous Woman Nobody Could FindFor over a decade, European law enforcement hunted a woman they called the Phantom of Heilbronn, a suspected serial killer whose DNA appeared at more than forty crime scenes across Germany, Austria, and France. Her profile connected murders, burglaries, drug offenses, and eventually the killing of a police officer in broad daylight. Investigators swabbed over three thousand women, logged sixteen thousand overtime hours, and posted rewards of up to three hundred thousand euros. She was not real.In this episode, we follow one of the most extraordinary forensic failures in modern history, a case that began with a strangled pensioner in 1993, spiraled into a years-long international manhunt, and collapsed when a dead man's fingerprints matched the genetic profile of Europe's most wanted female criminal. Along the way, a neo-Nazi terror cell called the NSU was quietly committing nine racially motivated murders that investigators refused to see for what they were. This is the story of what happens when evidence becomes more important than the truth it was supposed to find.#truecrime #phantomofheilbronn #womanwithoutaface #nsu #nationalsocionalistunderground #truecrimehistory #murder #mystery #truecrimecommunity #coldcasemystery 🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Teflon Don: How John Gotti Ran New York and Lost Everything

The Teflon Don: How John Gotti Ran New York and Lost EverythingIn 1985, John Gotti orchestrated the assassination of Gambino crime family boss Paul Castellano outside Sparks Steak House in Midtown Manhattan, setting off one of the most aggressive FBI investigations in organized crime history. The RICO prosecution that followed resulted in Gotti's 1992 conviction on five counts of murder, racketeering, and extortion, marking the effective end of the old-school New York mob era. What keeps the Gotti story compelling decades later runs deeper than the Brioni suits and tabloid headlines. The real architecture is a kid from the South Bronx who watched his father grind himself into nothing doing legitimate work and decided, very early, that was never going to be him. He built an empire out of that one decision, then made himself the most visible man in New York at precisely the moment the FBI needed someone to make an example of. The Dapper Don was never going to outlast his own myth, and this week we're going all the way in on why.#JohnGotti #DapperDon #GambinoFamily #TrueCrime #OrganizedCrime #AmericanMafia #TrueCrimePodcast🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Smiling Confession: How Alyssa Bradburn Planned Her Father's Death

The Smiling Confession: How Alyssa Bradburn Planned Her Father's DeathIn June 2024, 68-year-old Timothy Bradburn flew home from Hawaii to fix a leaking roof at his Spokane, Washington house. He walked through the front door holding his suitcase and his keys, and he never set them down. His daughter Alyssa had been planning this for three weeks. She practiced at a gun range. She wrote a journal detailing exactly what she intended to do and left it on the table for police to find. She told her father she was sick so he would walk in worried about her. She put on safety glasses and earplugs. And then she waited. What followed was one of the most psychologically layered parricide cases in recent Pacific Northwest history: a story of a family that gave everything to a daughter who stayed, repressed memories that may or may not have been real, and a woman who smiled through her own murder trial and said she enjoyed the experience. This is the Alyssa Bradburn case. And the detail that reframes everything is what her father told her brother before he ever came home.#AlyssaBradburn #TimothyBradburn #SpokaneMurder #TrueCrime #TrueCrimePodcast #Parricide #WomenWhoKill #PremeditatedMurder #PacificNorthwestCrime #TrueCrime2024 #MurderConfession #FamilyMurder #TrueCrimeBlueprint #10MinuteMurder🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Ice Cream and a Shallow Grave: The Bobby Greenlease Kidnapping

Ice Cream and a Shallow Grave: The Bobby Greenlease KidnappingIn September 1953, six-year-old Bobby Greenlease was abducted from his Kansas City Catholic school and murdered within hours, setting off the largest ransom demand in American history. The FBI investigation into the murder of Robert Greenlease Jr. by Carl Austin Hall and Bonnie Brown Heady led to a swift federal conviction, a double execution, and a police corruption scandal surrounding $312,000 in ransom money that has never been found. This one starts with a lie told in a school hallway, and it gets stranger and darker from there. Carl Hall and Bonnie Heady were two people who had both been handed comfortable lives and burned through every bit of them, and somewhere in the wreckage they decided the solution was to steal a child from one of the wealthiest families in Kansas City. The crime itself took less than an hour. The fallout took decades. And more than half of that $600,000 ransom has never been recovered, with theories about corrupt cops, the St. Louis mob, and the Teamsters still circling to this day.#GreenleaseKidnapping #TrueCrime #ColdCase #BobbyGreenlease #1950sTrueCrime #KidnappingMurder #MissingRansom🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Pine Barrens Body: Who Killed Cody MacPherson?

The Pine Barrens Body: Who Killed Cody MacPherson? In September 2017, 20-year-old Cody MacPherson disappeared from Pemberton Township, New Jersey, launching a six-month investigation that eventually drew in New Jersey State Police homicide detectives, Ocean County prosecutors, and a forensic team working largely skeletal remains discovered near the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area. Alan McGinnis, a 26-year-old Burlington County man with deep roots in the Pemberton community, was arrested, charged, and convicted of first-degree murder, ultimately sentenced to 30 years without parole.Cody played bass guitar, sang in choir, and had a daughter back in Indiana he was trying to get back to. He moved to New Jersey for a fresh start and walked straight into someone else's unresolved situation. What makes this case genuinely hard to put down is the silence: multiple people in a tight-knit community knew what happened and said nothing for six months. The only reason we know where Cody was found is because a forest warden was about to set the woods on fire.#TrueCrime #NewJerseyMurder #CodyMacPherson #PineBarrens #ColdCase #TrueCrimePodcast #MurderMystery🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Who Killed the Rhoden Family? The Wagner Family's Pike County Massacre Explained

Who Killed the Rhoden Family? The Wagner Family's Pike County Massacre ExplainedIn April 2016, eight members of the Rhoden and Gilley families were found shot execution-style across four separate locations in Pike County, Ohio, in what became one of the most extensive homicide investigations in American history. After two years of surveillance, wiretaps, ballistics analysis, and a homemade silencer recovered from the bottom of a well, the Wagner family of four was arrested in November 2018 and charged with aggravated murder, conspiracy, and related offenses. What started as a custody dispute over a baby girl became the blueprint for a massacre that took months to plan. The Wagners were not a troubled family in the way most people use that phrase. They were a closed criminal system, run by a patriarch who taught his sons to track police officers on road trips for dollar bills, and a matriarch who regularly accessed her sons' girlfriends' social media accounts to monitor their loyalty. When 19-year-old Hanna May Rhoden wrote in a Facebook message that the Wagners would "have to kill me first" before she'd sign custody papers, Angela Wagner was already reading her messages. This is the story of the eight people they went after anyway, and the family that spent months convincing themselves it was the right thing to do.#PikeCountyMurders #RhodenFamilyMurders #WagnerFamily #OhioTrueCrime #TrueCrime #TrueCrimePodcast #MassMurder🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Chelsea Perkins Case: A Veteran, a Double Life, and an Execution in the Woods

The Chelsea Perkins Case: A Veteran, a Double Life, and an Execution in the WoodsIn March 2021, the body of Matthew Dunmire, 31, was found in a remote ravine inside Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Valley View, Ohio. The federal homicide investigation led agents to Chelsea Perkins, a 35-year-old United States Coast Guard veteran who had driven 300 miles from Alexandria, Virginia, to commit the crime. Forensic evidence including GPS tracking, DNA analysis, and a recovered deleted file from her phone resulted in a federal conviction. On May 27, 2025, Perkins pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 270 months in federal prison. She had two lives running at the same time and managed both with a discipline most people cannot apply to a single one. A military veteran, an adult content creator named Selena Savage, and a woman quietly carrying a grievance that had been building for years. When she finally decided to act on it, she packed a 9mm pistol, got into her husband's Smart car, and drove three hundred miles to meet the man she was planning to kill. She spent the night with him first. Then she walked him into the woods of a national park. Investigators later recovered a fake suicide note she had written in the victim's own voice, and it tells you everything about how long she had been thinking about this.#TrueCrime #TrueCrimePodcast #CuyahogaValley #SelenaSavage #ChelseaPerkins #FederalMurder #NationalParkMurder🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Alaska Serial Killer Robert Hansen: The Baker Who Hunted His Victims Like Game

Alaska Serial Killer Robert Hansen: The Baker Who Hunted His Victims Like GameIn 1983, Anchorage, Alaska investigators connected respected local businessman Robert Christian Hansen to the murders of at least seventeen women, building their criminal profile case through FBI behavioral analysis, forensic evidence recovered from a hidden attic cache, and the survivor testimony of seventeen-year-old Cindy Paulson, who escaped Hansen in handcuffs before her scheduled flight into the Alaskan wilderness. Hansen pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree homicide and was sentenced to life plus 461 years without the possibility of parole. Robert Hansen sold donuts. He had hunting trophies on his walls, a solid reputation around Anchorage, and a family who had no idea what was happening a few miles out past the city limits, where the roads stopped, and the wilderness swallowed everything. For twelve years, he used the Last Frontier like a private hunting ground, and the only thing standing between him and another twelve years of it was a teenager with no shoes and a pair of handcuffs around her wrists. This is the story of how a man builds two completely separate lives in the same small city, what a pipeline boom made possible for a predator who knew exactly how to read the terrain, and the girl who, with about thirty seconds of nerve and nothing else, ended all of it.#TrueCrime #RobertHansen #ButcherBaker #AlaskaTrueCrime #SerialKiller #CindyPaulson #TrueCrimePodcast🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Bodies in Barrels: The True Story of the Snowtown Murders

Bodies in Barrels: The True Story of the Snowtown Murders In May 1999, South Australian police breached the vault of a disused bank building in the remote town of Snowtown and found eight barrels of human remains, uncovering what would become the most prolific serial murder case in Australian history. The Snowtown murders, also known as the Bodies in Barrels case, resulted in the convictions of John Justin Bunting, Robert Wagner, James Vlassakis, and Mark Haydon for the murders of twelve victims between 1992 and 1999, following an investigation that stands as the longest and most complex in South Australian legal history. What set this case apart from every other serial homicide in the record books was who the victims were. Every single person John Bunting killed was someone he already knew, someone he had brought close, shaped, and ultimately turned into either a weapon or a target. He built a killing operation from the most isolated and struggling people in his own neighborhood, and he made sure each of them was so deeply implicated in what had happened that silence was the only road left open. Today's episode goes into one of the most psychologically consuming cases I've ever covered, and the part I keep coming back to is just how long all of it went completely unseen.#SnowtownMurders #BodiesInBarrels #JohnBunting #AustralianTrueCrime #TrueCrime #SerialKiller #ColdCase🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The High Priest of New Castle: Frank Costal and the Kadunce Ritual Murders

The High Priest of New Castle: Frank Costal and the Kadunce Ritual MurdersOn July 11, 1978, Kathy Kadunce, age 25, and her four-year-old daughter Dawn were found stabbed to death inside their New Castle, Pennsylvania home in what investigators would eventually classify as a ritualistic homicide connected to a Satanic cult operating in Lawrence County. The cold case investigation sat dormant for three years before a convicted serial killer named Michael Atkinson provided testimony pointing to Frank Costal Jr., a self-styled occult high priest who maintained a following of alienated young men, as the architect of the killings.Frank Costal spent his entire adult life building himself into something impossible to ignore. He started as a carnival freak show performer, eventually returned to New Castle, filled an apartment with black curtains and plastic skulls, and built enough psychological authority over his followers that grown adults were afraid to cross him. When Kathy Kadunce discovered drugs in her house and flushed them, the consequences were unthinkable. This is the story of a traumatized child who grew into something genuinely terrifying, and the family who paid the price for it.#SatanicPanic #PennsylvaniaMurder #KadunceMurders #FrankCostal #ColdCase #OccultMurder🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Missing in Cleveland: The True Story of the Seymour Avenue Abductions

Missing in Cleveland: The True Story of the Seymour Avenue AbductionsIn 2002, Michelle Knight became the first victim in a kidnapping investigation that would span eleven years in Cleveland, Ohio, as Ariel Castro abducted three women and held them captive at 2207 Seymour Avenue in one of the most significant missing persons failures in American criminal history. Detectives failed to connect the disappearances of victims Amanda Berry in 2003 and Gina DeJesus in 2004, leaving three open cases while the suspect drove a school bus, played bass in local bands, and attended vigils for the very girl he had locked in his house, before a 937-count conviction in 2013.Ariel Castro spent years consoling a grieving mother at community events, handing out her missing daughter's flyers, and standing at candlelight vigils on her behalf. Three women survived more than a decade of captivity through an extraordinary bond forged with each other and with a child born inside that house, and when they finally walked out on May 6, 2013, they didn't stop moving. This is a story about what people are capable of, the absolute worst of it and the most astonishing of it.#ArielCastro #ClevelandKidnapping #MichelleKnight #AmandaBerry #GinaDeJesus #TrueCrime #MissingPersons🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Zombie Hunter Murders: Phoenix's Most Haunting Cold Case Finally Solved

The Zombie Hunter Murders: Phoenix's Most Haunting Cold Case Finally SolvedIn November 1992, Angela Brosso, age 21, was murdered and decapitated on a Phoenix, Arizona canal path on the eve of her 22nd birthday. Ten months later, 17-year-old Melanie Bernas was found in the same canal system, staged in clothing that didn't belong to her. For 22 years, the Phoenix Canal Murders stood as one of Arizona's most haunting cold cases until forensic genealogy and a glass of water at a Chili's finally put a name to the killer: Bryan Patrick Miller. What makes this one so hard to shake is the life Miller built around himself while living inside the very community he terrorized. He was a local character, a self-styled "Zombie Hunter" with a custom car, a prop gun impressive enough to land in an airport exhibit, and a regular spot at Phoenix festivals where he posed for photos with actual police officers on the weekends. Behind that persona was a man with a childhood that reads like a case study in how to manufacture a predator, a handwritten murder blueprint discovered when he was 16, and a legal system that let him walk free in 2002 when the evidence said something very different.#PhoenixCanalMurders #BryanPatrickMiller #TrueCrimePodcast #ColdCase #ForensicGenealogy #PhoenixSerialKiller #AngelaBrosso🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Operation Misty: The Undercover Sting That Caught a Serial Killer

Operation Misty: The Undercover Sting That Caught a Serial KillerIn October 1997, the body of Samantha Class, a 29-year-old mother of three, was discovered partially submerged in the muddy foreshore of the River Humber near North Ferriby, England. DNA evidence pointed directly at suspect Gary Arthur Allen, but in a 2000 trial at Sheffield Crown Court, Allen walked free. Twenty-one years later, in 2018, Alena Grlakova, a 38-year-old mother of four from Slovakia, vanished from Rotherham. Her body was found months later in a nearby stream, strangled and discarded just like Samantha had been. What followed was one of the most elaborate undercover police operations in British history, a two-year deep-cover sting involving seven officers building a fake criminal world around one man. Gary Allen's own mouth finally did what twenty-four years of investigations couldn't. This is a story about what happens when the system sees a monster coming from miles away and still can't stop him in time, and about two women whose families never stopped waiting for answers.#TrueCrime #GaryAllen #HumberMurders #SamanthaClass #AlenaGrlakova #OperationMisty #DoubleJeopardy🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. The Wrong Mother: How Julie Rea Was Convicted of Killing Her Own Son

The Wrong Mother: How Julie Rea Was Convicted of Killing Her Own SonIn October 1997, ten-year-old Joel Kirkpatrick was stabbed to death in his bed in Lawrenceville, Illinois, in a homicide investigation that would expose the catastrophic consequences of tunnel vision policing, junk forensic science, and the weight a single courtroom assumption can carry. His mother, Julie Rea, a PhD student in educational psychology, was convicted and sentenced to 65 years in prison despite no physical evidence connecting her to her son's death. What followed was nearly a decade of wrongful imprisonment, a true crime author who happened to catch the right television segment at the right moment, and a serial killer sitting on death row in Texas who turned out to be the only person willing to tell the truth. This case has a custody battle weaponized as motive, a nomadic predator with a body count stretching across the country, and a confession that cracked open a case the state of Illinois had tried to seal forever. Joel deserved better. So did his mom. And the way justice finally arrived for this family is one of the most remarkable stories you will ever hear.#TrueCrime #WrongfulConviction #JulieRea #TommyLynnSells #InnocenceProject #SerialKiller #TrueCrimePodcast🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story. Sheila and Clay Fletcher: The Parents Who Let Their Daughter Die

Sheila and Clay Fletcher: The Parents Who Let Their Daughter DieOn January 3, 2022, first responders entered a home in Slaughter, Louisiana, and discovered 36-year-old Lacey Fletcher deceased, the victim of years of catastrophic neglect committed by her parents, Sheila and Clay Fletcher. The investigation resulted in second-degree murder charges, a surprising plea deal, and a sentencing that ignited national outrage about vulnerable adult protections, caregiver accountability, and the failures of community oversight. What makes this case almost impossible to process is that Sheila Fletcher was a town alderman and court clerk, someone literally employed to uphold justice, while her daughter was vanishing in the next room. This is the story of how a family's obsession with reputation can override every human instinct, how a tight-knit community can look the other way for fifteen years, and how a woman who once played high school volleyball ended up merging with a piece of furniture. This one is going to stay with you.#LaceyFletcher #TrueCrime #LouisianaTrueCrime #MurderByNeglect #SlaughterLouisiana #TrueCrimePodcast #VulnerableAdults🔔 Subscribe for True Crime Cases multiple times a weekNever miss a story.
