Two friends, two continents, a palette of carefully observed scenes, considered melodies, electronic forests, and happy accidents. Philipp Hofmann and Jennifer Vogtner are 200 Lurkers. For the past 10 years, the two have been exchanging thoughts over 5,000 miles. What began as an exchange of letters in 2009, became a creative process to collaboratively craft songs across the distance between Cologne, Germany and Saint Petersburg, Florida. Using both electronic and analogue instrumentation, layers develop as a given song passes between the two over space and time. The resulting catalogue reflects the patina of many rounds of a slow process of revision and accumulation. 200 Lurkers blends the distinct musical aesthetics of Hofmann and Vogtner into songs that feature glimmering moments, makeshift voices and charmingly off-kilter melodies.Visit www.200lurkers.com for more...
