"THE BOYS OF DUNGEON LANE" | Review

Five and a half years after his last solo studio album, we finally have a BRAND NEW Paul McCartney record! To mark this historic occasion—and celebrate the 300th episode of 2Legs—Andy and Tom are proud to present our in-depth review of Paul's latest release, THE BOYS OF DUNGEON LANE released on 29th May 2026. Rather than rush out a "first listen" reaction, we wanted to spend a few days living with the album, absorbing the songs, studying the lyrics, and getting to know the record before sharing our thoughts. We felt an album this significant deserved that time and attention. The verdict? We absolutely love it. For us, "THE BOYS OF DUNGEON LANE stands comfortably alongside some of Paul's finest post-Beatles work, including TUG OF WAR, FLAMING PIE and BAND ON THE RUN. It's a rich, rewarding listen that continues to reveal new layers with every spin. We know many of our loyal subscribers have been patiently waiting for our review, and we wanted to make sure we got it right. We hope you enjoy our discussion, presented with accompanying images and audio throughout.  Now it's your turn: What do you think of The Boys of Dungeon Lane? Masterpiece? Instant classic? Or simply another entry in Paul's incredible catalogue? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below—we can't wait to hear them. It's 2026, and Paul McCartney has just released a brand-new album. What an extraordinary gift for fans after all these years. We hope this album brings you as much joy, excitement, and inspiration as it has brought us. E299: "Defending: It's A Drag"

Andy and Tom originally recorded this shortly after watching the Man On The Run documentary back in February, as it sparked some really interesting conversation among fans. One topic that has always fascinated us is Paul’s infamous “It’s A Drag” comment regarding the tragic death of John Lennon — a quote that, in our opinion, has been widely misunderstood for decades. After seeing the documentary, and especially hearing Sean Lennon’s thoughtful understanding of the moment, we felt it was worth revisiting the subject in a deeper way. Add in the differences between British and American colloquialisms, and it’s easy to see how Paul’s words were interpreted very differently than intended. Either way… you knew we were going to defend our guy here.  Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

SNL & Wings Hall of Fame Opening!

Greetings, excited Macca fans! Andy and Tom have just returned from an unforgettable trip to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, where they attended the grand opening of the brand-new WINGS exhibit, beautifully curated by Andy Leach. It was fantastic catching up with members of our amazing 2Legs Family and exploring everything this incredible exhibit has to offer. Be sure to check out Andy’s video for highlights from the weekend! Andy extended his stay and was lucky enough to attend a special presentation and intimate mini-concert featuring Laurence Juber and Steve Holley on Saturday. Despite their relatively short time in WINGS, both remain incredibly loyal and passionate supporters of Paul McCartney and his music. Andy, Heidi, and Joan even had the chance to meet them following the event! After an action-packed day, we rushed back to our hotels just in time to catch Paul’s appearance on Saturday Night Live! While we expected “Days,” we were genuinely surprised that no Beatles songs made the broadcast setlist. We absolutely loved the performance. Were there a few rough edges? Maybe. But honestly… it’s PAUL McCARTNEY. Watching a living legend still out there performing is always something special. Paul deserves to be celebrated. What about you? Are you planning a trip to the Hall this summer? What did you think of the SNL performance? Let us know in the comments below! Our Patreon Andy's HOF Reel

"The Hunt For The Lost Bass" | Review

As we take a break this week from any DUNGEON LANE News and give Ringo some airtime, Andy and Tom were afforded the opportunity to review the recent BBC Documentary "The Hunt For The Lost Bass". We give our thoughts and opinions on this cute story and it's principal players including Paul, Klaus Voorman, Nick Wass, Scott and Naomi Jones who started the search for the bass with #TraceTheBass ultimately leading to its discovery at the end of 2022. Although not an MPL production Paul and his team obviously have given their approval for this film and we enjoyed it for what it was. If you've had an opportunity to see it, let us know! And which "bass" do you prefer? The 1961 or 1963 one? Or Another? See you next time! A ndy and Tom

    Episode 289: "Movin On" | 1993 Docu-Rewatch

Hi Gang! Freshly rested from the FEST and kicking off a new month we're back with a new episode where we revisit a documentary. This time it's 1993's "Movin' On" directed by Aubrey Powell, which chronicles the making of Paul's album Off The Ground and ensuing "Live In The New World" Tour. We found Paul to be a bit more upbeat and comedic in this one contrasted against the previous "making of" doc "Put It There." I think we can tell the success of the 1989-90 tour gave him a sense of pride and accomplishment. It's evident in his demeanor in this. Other guest stars in the doc, Richard Lester, (Director) Brian Clarke (Tour Designer), Kevin Godley (Director/10CC), Robbie Mcintosh, Hamish Stuart, Blair Cunningham. This doc is notable for the 30 seconds or so of the McCartney-Stuart collaboration "Is It Raining In London?" Andy hadn't seen this in full before viewing it here in the episode. Tom gave it a review before we recorded. What say you about this doc. Do let us know in the comments! Till next time, Andy & Tom Article Referenced regarding the Amazon Deal:

Episode 287: "Flowers In The Ground"

Welcome Back 2Legs Faithful! As we close out another month, this week we are happy to share this episode with you, which we've called "Flowers In The Ground"! We've discussed how these albums pair up against each other and if we had to make one album out of the two what would that album look like. Using the Beatles 14 songs per album approach we widdled Flowers and Off The Ground down and titled it "Flowers In The Ground"!" We did this once with Tug of War/Pipes of Peace and we felt this would be a fun exercise to do. Many of our viewers/listeners feel strongly about this period in Paul's touring career, one that given his touring since 2002 has kind of fallen by the wayside despite having a really talented backing band with Hamish Stuart, Robbie McIntosh, Chris Witten, Blair Cunningham and of course the ever present Wix Wickens! What would your "Flowers In The Ground" look like? Let us know in the comments! This will be our final show until the Chicago FEST! See you there! Peace! Andy & Tom Interview with Robbie McIntosh

Episode 286: Macca Ticket Buying Saga!

This past week Paul's Pre-Sale for the 2025 Fall North American Tour was announced and on Tuesday diehard fans like us all tried with a myriad of mixed results! Ticketmaster and their "Dynamic Pricing" was a hot bed issue. For this special episode we invited members of the 2Legs Family to join us and share their experiences. Thank You to MVP, Joan, Beatley Tone, Boyan, James, Jeremy and Ted for sharing your ticketing saga! We also pointed out the fact that several content creators incorrectly are blaming Paul for 3rd party exorbitant pricing. Are you all in got the GOT BACK North American Tour? We are! Let us know!

Episode 285: "One Album: One Word"

A fun one this week! For Episode 285 Andy and Tom play a fun little exercise called "One Album, One Word", where we go through Paul's discography (Main canon albums + Electric Arguments) and describe it using an adjective! We open with tour rumours (we recorded this before the announcement on Thursday) and then get to it! What word would you use to describe these same albums? Let us know in the comments below! See you "Out There!" Peace Andy & Tom

We share our Beach Boys origins, some deep cut favourites, and lastly our Top 10 Fav's! In the comments, let us know your Top 10! Thanks to Jonathan and Benjy for hopping on for this special tribute. Episode 284: Interview Archive Series | 1987 German Interview

Welcome Back 2Legs Fam! This week we present another Interview Archive Series with Macca. When we do this we try to cherry pick rare and not often seen/discussed interviews. It's late 1987. Paul is riding the wave of success of his 2nd career spanning compilation "All The Best!". He has also been making the rounds on TV shows in Europe to promote his top selling single 'Once Upon A Long Ago' (also included on the UK "All The Best!" only). In the (audio only) interview conducted by Stefan Schlabritz & Slizzy Bob we hear Paul joke about his skills in the german language, the tracks chosen for All The Best!, working with Elvis Costello and Chris Witten to start a new band, and Once Upon A Long Ago. He also discusses his Sgt. Pepper nostalgic pastiche "Return To Pepperland" and compares it with George's 'When We Was Fab'. Something not heard again much from Macca. He also outlines the vision for what will become "The Beatles Anthology" documentary was was only a few years away from happening. We close out the episode with an alternate mimed performance of 'Once Upon A Long Ago' from the German TV Programme Wetten Das. See you guys after the 4th of July! Peace Andy & Tom

Episode 283: "Press To Play: That Unmistakable 80s Sound" | With Luca Perasi

Hello Everyone! Joining us this week is our friend, author and journalist Luca Perasi! As he celebrates the publication of his latest work "Press To Play | That Unmistakable 80s Sound" chronicling the "hot take" "Love It or Hate It" record that divides McCartney fans nearly 40 years later! One of the more significant people Luca was able to interview for the book was esteemed 1980s Producer Hugh Padgham (Genesis/The Police/Phil Collins) among many others. We know the relationship and direction over the album took many turns and misunderstandings, especially where Eric Stewart comes into the picture. Luca brings up many hypothesis' for these missteps. The book also takes a very detailed technical approach with the album including detail on instruments used as well as the key people that worked on the album (Arrangers, Other Musicians etc). Luca also does a fine job of contextualising the 1980s Pop Culture zeitgeist through the mediums of video games and technology. Congrats again to Luca on his latest book! Episode 282: Chaos and Creation At Abbey Road

Welcome Back 2Legs Fam! It's been nearly 20 years since Paul's latter day 21st Century Masterpiece Chaos and Creation In The Backyard. Where did that time go? To accompany and promote the record Paul held an intimate gathering of fans and friends at Abbey Road, recorded in Studio 2 to demonstrate some of the creative processes that he and The Beatles used to employ there and have a bit of fun along the way. Filmed on 28 July 2005 and originally broadcast on BBC2 17 December 2005 and PBS in the USA 27th February 2006 and directed by Simon Hilton "Chaos And Creation At Abbey Road" provides such an intimate glimpse of Macca at work playing familiar tunes in a whole new arrangement ('Band On The Run', 'Lady Madonna', 'I've Got A Feeling') among several from the forthcoming album which dropped in September of that year. Did you watch this upon initial release? or when it was bundled in the CD set? Let us know in the comments below! We love deep dives back into stuff like this! We hope you do too! Peace Andy and Tom

    Episode 281: Interview Series | Countdown 1977

This week on 2Legs (amidst the brand new touring rumours, and Babs dropping her duet on 'My Valentine' with Macca) we are pleased to revisit the Interview Series - where we dissect a rare and not often seen interview with Paul. On this episode we chose the 1977 Interview from an Australian TV program titled "Count Down." This recently surfaced on YouTube and to see the late 70s Wings trio ensconced in the privacy of #2 Studio at Abbey Road is pretty cool to witness. They appear bored at times (Denny especially) but Paul and Linda give some good sound bites here about what's to come. This was mainly used as a promotional tool for the then current single 'Mull of Kintyre.' The gentlemen interviewing Wings is Molly Meldrum. Orignally broadcasted on 24th December 1977. And we like Paul music post-1981, sorry not sorry! Peace Andy & Tom

    Episode 280: "Desert Island Discs"

Happy May 2Legs Fans! Andy and Tom are back this week to discuss what our "Desert Island Discs" would be. Following the format of Paul's appearance on the BBC Radio programme from his appearance on the show from January 1982 with BBC Presenter Roy Plomley. We chose 5 Paul/Wings Songs and 5 non-Paul/Beatles songs as well as one book and a luxury item like Paul did! If you've never heard the whole show - the link for the (audio) is below. The only video to surface from this appearance is the famous one where Paul is visibly shaken while listening to 'Beautiful Boy' - A touching moment; and a rare glimpse of Paul so honest. What would your 5 Paul songs to take away with you? Let us know! See you soon! Andy and Tom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6kmDI-mw-Q https:// www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p009ml01

Episode 279: "After The Breakup" | Keith Badman

Hi 2Legs Faithful! A long one in the making! Joining us for E279 is Author/Researcher/Journalist/Musician Keith Badman. Keith penned a trio of 3 Beatles "Bibles" in the early 00s. The first being After The Breakup 1970-2000 which was one of the first texts to compile Solo Beatles activity in a Day By Day format (Like Lewisohn). Andy quickly snapped up the book upon seeing on the shelves (RIP Borders!) circa 2001-02. His copy is well worn (as you'll see in the show). He brought it to Tom's attention shortly after joining the show. Keith did some work for The Beatles Anthology via a mutual friend Chips Chiperfield. He tells us about that and how he came to write the book. He followed up "After The Breakup" with two subsequent volumes titled "Off The Record" which collected quotes from Beatles and Associates. Episode 278: "Remixes!"

Hello 2Legs Faithful! We finally were able to record a proper episode again after a few hectic weeks post-Fest and Venus and Mars 50th Anniversary. This week on 2Legs Andy and Tom talk Macca Remixes! There are plenty of Macca Remixes out there; most of them coming during the Maxi-Single era of the 1980s. Special Thanks to Susan Gagne for this topic! The most recent one would be the remixes of 'Hope For The Future' that came out on that EP. "Thrash", "Beatsession", "Jaded" and "Mirwais" (2014). We give 5 selections (and play some samples of all the songs!) and list an honourable mention. It many cases sometimes the remix of a particular song worked out better than the official album version! What are some of your favourite Macca remixes he's released over the years? Our first proper episode in a few weeks! Welcome back 2Legs Faithful! For E274 we were honoured to have the esteemed Jeff Slate, a New York City based musician and journalist join us! "A Complete Unknown", The Beatles solo careers, Wings, Dylan/McCartney's approaches to their archival releases; the standards albums that both have done. Dylan's relationship with George/John and the non-existent one with Macca. We even touch on a little bit of The Who! We dish on how they both sound live currently (double standard ?) and the legacy that both will leave behind. Jeff Slate wrote the liner notes to the 50th Anniversary boxset to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (2017) as well as the Dylan Bootleg Series Volume 14: More Blood; More Tracks (2018). He has collaborated with Pete Townshend on several projects. He co-wrote a biography on Roy Orbison with Roy's sons. He has also interviewed Bob himself! Bonus: New Book | "Wings: The Story Of A Band On The Run"

Paul McCartney certainly knows how to stay busy! 2 weeks ago Paul "Rocked The Bowery Ballroom" and closed out the 50th Anniversary of SNL!  Today, 26th February 2025 he announced the forthcoming release of his OWN book titled: "Wings: The Story of a Band On The Run."   The press release: As the Sixties came to a close, Paul was faced with the daunting prospect of being a solo artist for the first time. Wings’ ascension to the top of the charts with classic albums including Band on the Run, Venus and Mars and At the Speed of Sound, along with the band’s stadium-filling live shows would prove to critics and fans that not all great acts are impossible to follow. Wings:The Story of a Band on the Run is a rousing, stereophonic celebration of the songs, collaborations and performances that would shape the soundtrack of the late 20th century. Drawn from over 500,000 words, based on dozens of hours of interviews with Paul and numerous key players in the band’s orbit, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run weaves together the improbable trajectory of Paul McCartney and his newly formed band (featuring co-founding members Linda McCartney and Denny Laine) across the technicolor 1970s until their dissolution in 1981.  Edited by the prize-winning historian Ted Widmer and organized around nine Wings albums, the oral history sheds new light on the immediate aftermath of the seismic global impact of The Beatles’ break-up, as the musical landscape and tastes began to splinter and diverge along with societal views. The narrative follows the various incarnations of the band as they survive a mugging in Nigeria, appear unannounced at UK university halls, tour in a sheared-off school bus with their children, while producing some of the most indelible and acclaimed music of the decade, including: “Mull of Kintyre,” “Live and Let Die,” “Band on the Run,” “My Love,” “Jet,” “With a Little Luck,” “Silly Love Songs,” “Let ‘Em In,” “Junior’s Farm” and more.  With more than 100 black-and-white and color photographs, many never seen before, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run is part of a larger reexamination and appreciation of the group and their catalog, including the 2024 theatrical release of the rare Wings live-in-studio performance film One Hand Clapping and its accompanying album; 50th anniversary editions of the Wings albums Band on the Run (released February 2024) and Venus and Mars (releasing March 2025); and a forthcoming documentary on Paul McCartney’s solo and Wings-related musical work of the 1970s from Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Morgan Neville. 2025 is shaping up to be a FANTASTIC year for all of us Macca-diehards!

Hi Everyone! For this week's episode we were delighted to have Tom Frangione join us! Tom is the host and principal DJ on The Beatles Channel on SiriusXM (Channel 18)! He is also a veteran staffer at the Fest For Beatles Fans. In the Fall of 2022 Tom interviewed Sir Paul himself! to commemorate the 40th Anniversary release of Tug Of War. Inside E272, Tom gives us the backstory of how this incredible-life changing opportunity came to be! If you aren't a subscriber to SiriusXM, you should be! They offer many unique programs with multiple hosts and talking points. It's not just a Beatles channel on shuffle! We previously had Caitlin Larkin on a few years back and we were honoured that Tom gave us some of his time to share some of the insight on how the channel works and the evolution of it. Episode 271: "The McCartney Legacy, Volume 2" (Review) With Allan Kozinn and Adrian Sinclair

For our final show of January 2025 we are happy to present our friends Allan Kozinn and Adrian Sinclair as we discuss in depth their second volume of The McCartney Legacy covering the periods January 1974-January 1980. We had them on in December to celebrate the publication of the book. Now we've had a chance to read it and we go over our favourite sections of the book and revelations that were discovered. Allan and Adrian give us insight on some of the key people that were helpful with their research and writing for Volume 2. Support this book! and help us get Volume 3 and beyond! They will also be at the Fest in March in Jersey City! Peace! Andy & Tom

    Episode 270: "Top 10 Collaborations!"

Happy Weekend 2Legs Faithful! Ringo might be getting all the headlines this week (and rightly so, but the Macca Train keeps rolling along!). A topic oft discussed in general but never tackled by us! On this week's show Andy and Tom list their Top 10 favourite Macca Collaborations over the years. We define "Collaboration" as: A song Paul wrote for someone else, someone else's song he sang/played on, a song of his that he did with someone else. Shoutout and appreciation to friend Kyle Hand for the suggested topic! We had some obvious choices but we both had some choices that were surprises to us both! What say you? Who are your Top 10 Macca Collabs over the years? Newer? Older? Well known? Not so well known? Let us know  Andy & Tom

    Episode 269: "Wings and Womack!"

Happy New Year All! We start 2025 with a lively discussion with none other than our friend Dr. Kenneth Womack, (Author and Professor of English/Music at Monmouth University). Ken, typically is writing/lecturing strictly on The Beatles but he is also a huge Wings fan. In this episode, we trace Ken's fandom with Paul/Wings and also simultaneously learning The Beatles catalog at the same time in the late 1970s which sounds pretty Fab! We navigate our discussion throughout the main Wings canon of albums, hear some stories about current students views on The Beatles, how younger people prefer physical media over digital (Win!) and more. Lastly, Ken gives us an update on the Mal Evans Diaries project expected this year and another big surprise! See you at the Fest in March Ken! Peace! Andy and Tom

Episode 268: "2024 Year In Review"

Well we made it! Another year down! 2024 certainly had it's share of major Macca/Beatles/Solo releases. For our final episode of the year, Andy and Tom recap the year that was for Macca. Releases (Underdubbed/OHC/SHM's) Books/Tours/Notable Tributes and we pick our favourite moments of the year. (Kinda easy choice for Andy this year! LOL). We also look at what could be 'Coming Up' for 2025 for Paul! What was your Top Macca Related Release for 2024? Wish list for 2025? Let us know in the comments! Thank you for our BEST year yet ever for 2Legs! Your support of our show really took us to meeting new friends, traveling to new locations all in love of our guy - James Paul McCartney Rock On 2025! Wishing you all a peaceful and prosperous New Year! :) Andy and Tom
