Free CPR Training for Parents
Emma Lawrence from Kids Alive, discusses the free CPR training launch to equip parents for life-or-death emergencies as drowning deaths have reached their highest level since 1996, with 357 lives lost last year. For every child who drowns, another eight are hospitalised following non-fatal incidents, often with lifelong consequences. At the same time, four in five (80%) cardiac arrests occur in the home, challenging the perception that emergencies happen where help is readily available. Injury also remains the leading cause of harm among Australian children, with more than 600,000 emergency department visits and nearly 89,000 hospitalisations each year.To help address this, Kids Alive Do the Five and Royal Life Saving WA are relaunching the online education initiative, The Heart Beat Club in 2026, a free, one-hour online course covering CPR and essential first aid for babies and toddlers, available throughout May.For further details and to register visit the Heart Beat Club website at https://kidsalive.com.au/the-heart-beat-club/
